New Rules

This question is for any of the coaches. I heard through a very reliable source that the rules for Worlds have changed and are now that you have to be 10 years old to compete in the Senior Division. Will that also apply to the 2007-2008 competition season? And how do you think this is going to affect teams next season?

If that's true, it hasn't been updated to USASF's website, so there would be an awful lot of confused people out there.

I know for some competitions the age minimum for senior "elevated" is 12. UCA and USA come to mind. I don't quite know why they do this, since USASF doesn't require it for Worlds. Why preclude someone from qualifying for Worlds who can, by the rules, compete there? It doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.

I do have to say though, in Las Vegas I did see quite a few flyers in the senior divisions who appeared to be maybe 6. It's distracting to me when the flyers are that little/young. But there's a big difference between 6 and 10, and I can see setting a minimum at 10. 10 is very young for the senior divisions.

This actually just came about this weekend at the NACCC Congress Meeting in Georgia. I am pretty sure at least Cheergyms, Cali All Stars, POWER and Cheerforce attended from California so I am kinda interested in hearing the final results, and if it is affecting all Senior Teams or just World teams.

Well I found some answers on another message board. Should make for an interesting next season if these happen in April. I think I am getting as bad as Worls Watcher as far as digging for stuff. I now also need to join The support group for You Tube addicts HAHA

the usasf talked about 10 or 12 being the youngest age on a senior team.  and also stiff penalities for gyms who break rules

So what is it 10 or 12

NACCC doesn't make the rules..we vote on what we wont to send to the rules committe in April.  i'm not sure what it was but i know that there has to be a age cap on it.  so that means the youngest they will go is 9 or 10..but probably 12

Glad there is someone else as crazy (or obsessed) as much as me to get info. Welcome to the world of "surfing". Watch out. It can be mind controlling.

I think USASF tried to change the age for Sr teams for this cheer year and got heck for it because of the late notification. So I would assume that they will implement for next season. My preference would be age 12. Lets see what they come up with.
