Vegas Injuries

Hey, I've heard there were a high number of injuries at American Grand this year in addition to the injuries from NCE and CA. Can anyone that was at the competition give us their opinion about why the high number of injuries? I'm concerned about how the competition companies are prepared or not for injuries and if they ever do any investigation about why there lots of injuries. Is it the floor? Was there something wrong with the floor that would cause the kids to have problems with their tumbling? Or do the companies just ignore it and move on to next year?

I at no point stepped onto the floor, but did hear from more than one coach that the floor was a problem. "Weird" and "slippery" were things I was told, especially in the front right corner. But there were teams who stuck all their tumbling, so while it was a problem for some it appears it wasn't for everyone.

I think Melissa meant that some were complaining that the floor had something on it, but some kids didn't seem to fall because of whatever was there.

Also, we have an extra full size floor in storage that we use for different reasons when we travel, and i will tell you this, it's a pain to put together and you have to do it JUST SO or it won't go together correctly. It takes about 8 to 15 men to do it and about an hour to get it right. So problems CAN happen if it's not done correctly.

You CAN do it with less people but it takes a lot longer to unload and put together.
