our colors are not the same anymore because before they were yellow black and white and now its gold black and white..subtle difference but i can definately tell.. we ARE a new gym becasue we are in no way affiliated with SBE. SBE was owned by Bill Zelina and NCE is co owned by Donna Mills, Cassie Arriaga, and Rachel uum sorry i forgot her last name.. [ LOVE YOU RACHEL!] yes Roy, our lead coach and choreographer was also from SBE but in regards to the program .. it's not the same. it's all on the website
I think we are possibly combining the ideas of small/large gym with new/old gym.
Small to me would be 1 to possibly 3 teams. Medium would be 3 to possibly 7/8 teams. Large would be 9+ teams
New would be 3 to 5 years old. Established would be 5 to 7/8 years. Old would be 8+ years. (even though I don't like the word old, I can't think of a better one at the moment)
Just what I think.
Also, lots of gyms aren't "run or coached" by their owners. The people who coach as well as run their gyms are crazy in my book. They have such HUGE responsibilities and have to have superhuman qualities. If your coach runs your gym, be nice to them. You have NO IDEA what they have to go thru. Better yet, volunteer!!!!! Every little thing you do is one less thing they have to worry about!
My favorite smaller gyms are Athletic Perfection, Royals, Cheer Xplosion, Airborne, and Cheer Divas. They all have creative routines and are always great competition to go against.
Where has California Spirit been? I see them mentioned, but they don't seem to be at any of the other competitions we've seen on this board so far. I liked their Senior team's dance.
Our next competition is Cheersport in Stockton and then COA. Thanks for all the compliments on the routine. We are making changes and hopefully you will enjoy the teams even more. good luck to everyone else in Nor Cal =)

Looks like several of the teams mentioned in this thread are not small gyms. If this is the definition agreed upon then there are only a few teams reminding:
720 Airborne Motions Pryamids Rebels University Cheer Force
You guys are so funny. I was just saying what I was thinking. Maybe someone would have a better breakdown that I had?? I am thinking that even though Motions and 720 are in themselves small gyms, they are part of a larger company. In in that, I would think that would make them large overall. What do you think?
I think Athletic Perfection and Cheer Xplosion have four teams, so they would be medium I guess. Royals has quite a few I think. Are we including dance? I wonder if a lot of gyms that have dance and cheer have girls who do both. I didn't know Airborne had five teams. Good luck to you guys in Vegas!
I see 720 and Motions being small due to the number of teams they have, not who owns them. The advantage of true "medium" or "large" gyms is the number of kids you have to create teams that have all members of a team at a specific skill level. When you are small you usually have a team that the skill levels can range from level 2-5. A small gym typically will also not have true age appropriate teams, meaning they have to put Youth age member on sr team because they might have advanced skills.
Motions and 720 don't get to draw on talent pool of kids from Pyramids. So I see Pyramids as large and 720 and Motions as small "gyms".

That is what is so impressive about Motions -- they are a small gym and look how far they went last year. By the looks of things, they have a great chance of having another awesome season.

I would categorize the cheergym teams together and as a LARGE gym. I recall a similar post last year where pulling talent from all of the cheergyms teams to create the All American was being debated. Doesn't make sense to say all the cheergyms team are under one ownership when creating the All American team, but not a consideration when classifying the gyms size.

I agree, they are ONE program, different names! They are large
I disagree. They are SEPARATE gyms/locations! They are small.
Does anyone want to take the middle road and argue the medium size arguement? This could go on for days.
No, they are small. No they are large. No, they are medium. No, I said they are small, so they are SMALL! End. No, I said they are LARGE, so they are large! End of story...I love this....
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe folks from cheergyms are the ones that remind some of us from time to time that they are indeed separate gyms (with separate owners). Let's hear from them again, they can resolve this debate. Or we could just go on and on and on...
But think about it, even if they're considered one large gym, location-wise it's not the same as one large gym in the same area. Motions and Pyramids are in two separate cities that are not close enough where you'll have many from one commuting to the other. I could be wrong but I'm guessing those on Motions live closer to the Motions gym, and not near where the Pyramids gym is located.
