i know of one of the girls on the team that was as old as me, i went to school with her and also cheered with her, she also has been coaching for them forever, and i turned 20 last year. I KNOW she competed with them for worlds last year, but i dont get what the point of arguing about it. No ones going to do anyting, and lots of teams are going to get away with it .. i personally think karma will come back and bite those cheating teams in the butt.

That doesn't really prove anything. A kid that graduated in 2005 at age 17 would be a soph in college, still age eligible to compete allstars.
i know how old she is, im not trying to argue it, theres no need to deny it. She was way to old and power knows it. Hopefully this year, i dont see her on the floor competing because shes 20 now!

What is he going to say. No she wasn't and explain the situation, LOL. Or maybe he will post her birth cert. Doubt it. It is was it is and maybe that is why he hasn't popped up yet. But after this post, I bet he does with something to say. Afterall, this is the man who feels it is necessary to "chorg." the parent section at competitions. Remember GSSA? I think that was the excuse he gave for that situation.
POWER must really be a threat this year....they have never had so many haters onthese boards! Do you really think a gym like Power would be that stupid? Highly doubt it.
Keep doing what you do best Power! They others are nervous!

Actually Yes, Cheer Athletics did it, Maybe they were trying to follow in their footsteps lol
Also, you CAN cheer and be 19. It depends on when your birthday falls...if they turn 19 after May 30th (I think that's the date), they can cheer that entire season. Read the rules - the age is the age you are BEFORE May 30th/June 1st/whatever it is. So as long as you are the right age on that date, you can turn 19 the next day and still be eligible for the entire season.
This year we have the enitre team 1984 Russian Olympic team. They are too old but we are going to combine them with the Loiusville kids from California and call it a team. Tannaz, Jeff, John and a russian interpretor will be the coaches.

But she was 20 last year
Last years rules were different, you could be 19 but you have to be in HS.

It is the fact that there was a grade issue you could only be 19 if you were in High School, she wasn't she was a sophmore in colllege. Ask her for yourself. those of you bright ones you knowthe person everyone is talking about

No doubt about it she will pop up on this message board to defend herself. People from her program are on here all the time
Last Year USASF guidelines were different than the current season. They were changed in Atlanta at the NACCC in January 2006!
Portia, the coach you are referring to that cheered last year is a Junior in College now, but did meet the age requirement set forth by the USASF for last season’s teams. I have kept birth certificates on file along with photo ID, In case any problems should arise. If you would like to see them please contact me at powercheer@aol.com or call one of our offices @209-543-7693 or 916-626-5555. I will be glad to set up an appointment to meet with you so you may verify its validity.
As far as this year, all of our members meet the age requirement mandated by the USASF. We have birth certificates and photo ID or Report cards on all of our kids and have them at every competition in case someone makes a false claim against us.
Following in Cheer Athletics footsteps... That would be great in terms of skill development, choreography, and the way Jody handles things, I would love to follow in their footsteps. I have nothing but respect and admiration for their program.
Would it be possible for me to join your too old illegal cheer team. I was good at gymnastics a while back and would love to get back together with some of my old russian friends. I am 31 but can pass for much younger Yours truly, Mary Lou Retton
you guys from power know who everyone is talking about. You tried to get away with it and for the most part, you did. CONGRATS. It doesnt matter anymore because shes going to be 21 in a few months, i can tell you that if i see her on the floor this year, people will report that because thats unfair! I dont have teams that have level 5 teams competing for worlds but cheating shouldn't be the way. Karma will getcha, guarenteed! good luck to all the other level 5 teams, dont worry about them--you all are amazing and i wish you all luck, represent california the way it should be represented!
