Once again you people on this message board are creating drama over things you don't have any power over........ Rules are Rules and California Allstars has always abided by the RULES!!!!!!! How about all the college kids that are on every coed team in the country......... or maybe alittle closer to home.. how about all the Sac State girls that were on Power...... Every one of these programs has read the rules and the rules are very specific. Just go to the gym and practice harder and then you won't have so much time to worry about others...... I agree it is wrong if people are cheating by being to old but unless the team is breaking the actual RULE your little opinion DOES NOT MATTER!!!!!!
Lastly, the programs that have athletes that come home to compete trained those athletes and that is the reason they are going to the top schools in the country. Stop Hating....... Once again every Large Coed Team in the Country has kids on their team that are enrolled in college courses. Kentucy Elite, Georgia, Top Gun, Cheer Athletics, California Allstars, Ace, Celebrity, South Jersey Storm and so on and so forth................... Get over it!!!!! If the rules change then these programs will change until then just enjoy the show!!!!!
You have to make the rules work for you. If Cali had people from Loiusville then good for them. Power had girls from Sac State, but that was within the rules they were young enough, so what is the big deal They were at every practice and every comp and earned the right to be at Worlds. No rules were broken from either program.
I'm not with either of these programs, but I'm wondering if the situations might be different. Are the Sac State girls there year round, competing with the team all season long? Or do they compete with one gym then, go and compete for another allstar gym later on. The UofL kids are there for 1 competition, fly back to Louisville and then finish the season with Gymtime. There's a big difference in the situation. Just cause there's no rule against it doesn't make it right. If you were to spike your competitors oj with laxative before a competition, would that be ok? It's sure nothing saying you can't in the rulebook. USASF can't possibly list every example of unethical behavior in their rules and shouldn't have to.
Just because these atheletes were trained by CA is not really an excuse. Otherwise, those same atheletes should be able to help out their previous gyms that trained them before they came to CA allstars.
Frankly I think they should raise the age. Make senoir divisions 16 and up like the olympic's and other sports world championships. There is no age ceiling or as you call it aging out in any olympic sport. Yes for the younger there is a junior olympic,s and world championships. Allstar cheer has got to get away form this high school age and grade mentality! I think only then will allstar cheer be truly considered a sport by all.

I seriously doubt that would change how people outside of cheer would feel about the sport. Either you think its a sport or you don't. A change like that might affect how some things are done within the sport, but no big change to the general public's perception would come about.

This reminds me of what my mom used to always tell me when I was growing up, "so if the Power girls jumped off a bridge, would you do that to?" Sorry, I couldn't resist. Good luck to those of you going to Vegas this weekend!

To insinuate that Power did somthing that was not within the rules is so off base it is crazy. Stephanie Cook and Kristy Randall were on SAC STATE and Power last year ( girls- we miss you so much, Hope you are having a great time at Morehead) They attended all practices and competed at EVERY competition. To insinuate that they were older or just showed up for comps is WRONG. They were the leaders of that team and are missed so much.
People- it is not breaking the rules if you have people that are in college but within the age guideline. Know the rules and use them to help your program. On the flip side please do not insinuate that programs that do follow the rules are doing anything that is not honest.

That was the point of my post. The fact that the Power girls were on Sac state meant they were local and a part of the team year round. I have no problem with that. On the other hand, we know the UofL cheerleaders are not competing with California year round and we also know that some, if not all of those cheerleaders that fly back to do Calfornia's routine for American Grand will show up at Worlds and/or NCA with Gymtime, that is a totally different story.

What about the other that are not from Sac State that competed? They were in college how do you explain them? They weren't within the age rules. Last years rules were different. The cutoff age was 18. You could be in college and be 18 or if you were 19 you atill had to be in the 12th grade. So you can't be 19 and a freshman or sophmore in college, so how do you explain that?
In terms of POWER, every menber was within the legal limits of age. We check every members birth cetificate. POWER is a relatviely small place. Every member that was out of high school had been with the program for several years previous. The only exception was Stephani Cook and she was with Cheergyms ( Motions) for at least 4 years. We knew these girls and had all of the proper paperwork that was needed.
If anyones has any questions in regards to this manner, we would love to answer any questions that you may have. Please give us a call at either gym. Please ask for Lisa in Modesto or Bri on Sacramento.

i know of one of the girls on the team that was as old as me, i went to school with her and also cheered with her, she also has been coaching for them forever, and i turned 20 last year. I KNOW she competed with them for worlds last year, but i dont get what the point of arguing about it. No ones going to do anyting, and lots of teams are going to get away with it .. i personally think karma will come back and bite those cheating teams in the butt.
being 19 BEFORE August 19th was not in the rules. I am fully educated regarding the USASF rules. Perhaps you shoud check the ages of team members better.

That doesn't really prove anything. A kid that graduated in 2005 at age 17 would be a soph in college, still age eligible to compete allstars.
