How long has everyone been going to competitions??? I've only been doing this for a year and I've learned. Time for all of you to come prepared. I got there when the doors opened, brought my own snacks cuz I NEVER eat that crap food and had a good time. The place was getting full mid-day when the senior teams were finishing up and the juniors started coming in. I saw plenty of orange seats empty. All you needed to do was take one. I even left after the first awards and got some lunch and returned and had no problem getting a seat. They announced plenty of times if no one was sitting in a seat to just take it and there were many without bags, jackets, etc. I enjoyed watching the teams everyone did a good job. CONGRATS to everyone! Thanks to the parents I was sitting with in the morning and afternoon for the friendly chatter.
No I had a small group but I knew to get there early. I had a much better time today getting in free than having to pay $15 to go to Jamz or Jamfest at a bigger location and listen to their hooplah with the dancing Jammy or watch the overage Jamz cheerleaders do the same tumbling/stunts all the time. I thought GSSA had a well run program today.
GSSA starts with poor service and ends with poor judging. Don't waste your time. I'm an old veteran of cheer competitions and we learned our lesson last year with GSSA nor cal. Your money is better spent elsewhere!
One comment states all the teams really brought it, and the other states that lots of teams messed up. It's funny how you can get two completely different views watching the same routines.
because the venue was small i feel like alot of teams were testing out the water with improved routines/or new routines, so alot of teams had tiny mistakes that just added up in the end. It was nice to see so much talent but must say that the schedule did lag. the practice room took forevever, had barely enough floor, and the springs were stiff. either way everyone did a pretty good job.
I go to competitions to support my daughter and her teammates and her program and I also go there to support all the kids who go out there on the floor, I don't go to nitpick and criticize teams....I had a great time, it was hard to find a seat but I looked around until I found one with some parents from my daughter's gym, I ate before I went, walked around the winter wonderland set up to go get some air between routines, and I had a great time. It did lag, the announcer talked a little too much, but hey, the parking was easy to find, my daughter had fun, I didn't think any one team was "robbed", thanks for the free admission GSSA, I got to bring a few extra people without going broke paying for them or feel bad that I asked them to pay their own admission. It was crowded and I do think next year it should be in a bigger venue but my daughter's been doing this for 5 years now, I came prepared, the kids all did great, I had a good time, this was in no way the worst competition I've ever been to...stop whining already!

why don't you go back to winter wonderland.... the place was way too crowded for the amount of people that needed to perform....period!!! i rather pay the money and go into a place that everyone has room and where they actually have some food. Most of us have to be there for 9 hours so the accomodations should've been better. I know there was like one security guard and no ones bags were being checked or anything. I rather pay the money for them to pay for better security. We are talking about a place where our young girls and guys are going to be and people were walking in and out of that place with no wrist bands to letting them know they were actually suppose to be there.
If the entrance fee was $68 what was that used for? I mean with the amount of teams there I would pressume that they could of payed for two panels of judges to lessen the time between teams. Better securtiy and a better venue. Anyone else agree?
I came prepared, got there early, brought my own snacks, had my family join me for once, we went out to lunch, then returned for the 2nd half of the day. You'd be amazed how much it costs, $68 isn't bad. Really good lighting, I thought the flow went okay, I can go on and on.
