I believe that the reason they had the senior divisions in the morning is because around this time of year a lot of high schools have their winter ball/formal dances. I believe that for the last 4 years or so they've had the senior divisions go in the morning because of this.
I too thought the venue was too small. And after going to the civic auditorium for more competitions than i can count, I knew looking at the schedule that it was going to be VERY crowded. I think it should have been at the convention center, or even at San Jose State like it was a few years ago.
I could have done without the 3 full minutes if inane babbling by the announcer in between every routine. Soooo annoying. And I agree, the whole thing was a fire hazard waiting to happen.
So, after todays nor cal classic which was very crowded..standing room only. How is GSSA going to squeeze their championship (march)into that tiny venue?
$68 per participant is insane for what it was, which was a one-day competition that could have been fit into a 9-2 day had we done without all the BS in between.
I think these companies are misguided. We don't care about beads, free t-shirts, or playing games in between routines. Get two judging panels and crank those suckers out, in a venue where everyone can have their own seat and not have to stand in the aisles. Spend the money on quality instead of all the gimmicks. We'd rather have a full-sized warm up floor with plenty of warm up time, a quick, efficient day, a comfortable venue, and accurate, unbiased scoring than a bunch of junk any day.
And ditto whoever said fire the announcer. My god. Everyone around me was commenting on how annoying it was.
Someone is putting videos up from today. I emailed them to ask if they have the level 5 routines and they said they're in the middle of putting them up. This is whats up so far:

Well of course Pyramids, Motions and 720 and our Co-Ed open team looked great but you know, I'm a little biased....
I didn't see the morning program..... As for the afternoon program.... POWER was awesome as usual ('nuff said) , Fusion looked great, I loved their dance and stunts, (wow, they grow them tall out there in Fresno!), I thought their uniform was very cute, Nor Cal had some fantastic stunts, their stunts were very original, Athletic Perfection, wow, their motions are so tight, they're very solid, have beautiful tumbling, Cheer Odyssey looked great out there on the floor too, they always have a solid program, and Aerials put on a very cute routine too, Aerials had some great jumpers, they just had one team out, I'd never seen them but they looked very good, and I'd never seen Evolution before either but they had a fun routine, the junior high school and jv teams from Vacaville Christian had good routines too, I'd have to say that all the teams today really brought it, there really wasn't any one routine that fell apart or was just off, I'd honestly say that everyone brought a great routine and did a great job..oh yeah, all the tinys were adorable, they're sooo cute.
well wrote: I saw very few "hit" routines today in any division. Lots of mistakes all around and we're a third of the way through the season.
What was with all the "exhibition" routines today?
Yes I agree! Everyone was not their go out there & give it all you got self today. It was weird to me to see some of those teams mess up as much as they did.
