Motions- Clean and clean some more. I think that they have upped thier difficulty though and this is really evident. Loved the opening and was impressed that they were pushing it. The pyramid improved too. i would worry at the NAtional level about thier depth, but they are on track and should be a force the entire year.
NCE- they did not win, but I am impressed with the improvement that they have made in the past month. You could see that they were feeling it and had confidence. They are going to need to clean up and hit the routine or they will lose time after time. great job thoug, I think you are going to the right direstion
Cheer Odyssey- Fun routine for level 4 or 3. I think the Pyramids Coed level 3 would be a great competition for you. It seemed like you only had 3-4 level 5 athletes on that team. MAJOR improvements on your skills are needed. I would go level 3 or 4 at national events. I think the cellar is where you will be if you dont
Cheer Odyssey is a senior co-ed limited level 5 team (3 boys) and do not expect to be able to win against a senior co-ed level 5 team that has 7 to 12 boys. They are only in the same division because there was no competition in the co-ed limited level and they did not separate the levels. They are new to the level but why stay level 4 and waste 6 to seven fulls? their skills are growing every practice and they are not afraid to compete even if they might lose.

Great job Power, your teams as usual were great and fun to watch. Power parents you guys rock the house with your power sticks and "spirit for power" chant. I must say that I have always admired your dedication and team spirt, and i must tell you that I admire you even more after seeing one of your coach/owners LOOSE his mind this weekend. I am still in shock at how that man yelled at all of you about not yelling loud enough, not standing up, and letting other team parents show you up. My kids kept alking me Mom what is wrong with him? Why is he yelling at us? Kudos to ALL of the POWER PARENTS AND TEAMS you all looked amazing as always. To the coach, I hope that you check you blood pressure often cause you scared the heck out of me... I thought you were going to burst a vessel. Take care of yourself OK?
Yeah we saw that too. We were a whole section section over and still heard him yelling that he was embarrased and the parents were getting shown up some of the people sitting there weren't even from his organization they were actually from CO.
I will tell you that they got up and came and sat closer to us. I asked one of the POWER parents what was wrong with him and he told me that it was normal for him to yell at the kids and parents and this was going to be the last year for his daughter just because of all the stress they were going through and the way kids were placed on teams, and he wasn't the only one thinking that. They have alot of issues over there. I am so happy to be part of Cheer Odyssey, Our owners don't yell at us and embarass us in front of other programs. The looks on some of the parents were horrible. they were embarrased and rolling there eyes at him. I can see that they don't respect him.
Respect is earned not demanded. I believe the teams do so well because they have the fear of god put in them by the owner. Shame on you for embarrassing your organization.
I was in the section in question. I am a CO parent and yes that coach scared my young child. But lets just let this rest. It is POWERS issue not ours. Lets not start drgging out the dirtly laundry on other teams, as we all know some people change gyms for various reason. I don't think it is fair for us to say that some of their people are leaving when sometimes people just talk. We have had people leave our gym and I would hate to see people start throwing out things that they may not have liked about CO.
I wish POWER the best of luck, and lets keep this positive OK? None of us like being bashed. Constructive comments are fine, but bashing only hurts the kids who are working very hard no matter what team, or level they are.
I think it was pinned earlier "TO EACH HIS OWN" we dont know the entire operations nor all the good things that may occure in Power's gym. Power is a successful business and John is passionate with a vision. some may not agree with what they saw, be it right or wrong, and those people who don't agree can be thankful that they aren't apart of the gym. People go where the program works for them and if it doesn't they will search for one that does. people come and go with gyms for various reasons. if they dont like it and stay apart of a Power then shame on them for letting it happen and not finding somewhere where they are happier. Power has been in business for a number of years. somethings happening that poeple like. Leave it at 'TO EACH HIS OWN"
The owner of CO had his own blow up at AB just weeks before (short older man in the CO jersey)? He went up to the Power owner yelling something about one of his teams losing to Power and asking why or how? I was sitting right behind the music booth, and I can tell you that the owner of Power was composed the entire time not even getting out of his chair, as the CO owner shoved a paper in the Power owners face and kept pointing at it and pointing at the performance floor. I know that it was so loud that two of the judges were looking over at the entire scene unfold right next to them. After the CO owner left the music guy came up to the Power owner to see what his problem was. The wors part of the situation was as he was walking away he was pointing at the Power owner and another coach saying we'll get you next time.
I guess none of us can know the ins and outs of every conversation or what we perceive them to be from just seeing something and not being involved in the conversation. I understand now why coaches don’t allow parents to view practices.
I am glad you are happy at CO and I am glad that families are happy at POWER. Let it be and let it die, back and forth banter creates nothing but negativity.
We all have lots of things we can be working on like teaching our children to be better people.

UCF MOM
UCF MOM....What are you talking about? We don't have an owner that looks like that so you may have the wrong person. Please don't try and start bashing CO and making up lies. THere was nothing that happened like that. & if there was I'm sure we would have heard it on this board before this. & IF this is someone from UCF we have been supporting your team and you want to bash us like this?
Thats is fine that the Power owner was composed. I think that people are concerned with the yelling at the parents and kids that put food on Johns table. THAT BEHAVIOR IS UNCALLED FOR.
If your teacher childs teacher at school yelled at you or your child would you be okay?
If that teacher yelled at another teacher that would be handled internally and the 2 teachers would eventually work it out. As I am sure the 2 owners will work it out.
Thoses parents are not Johns employees They pay his bills and therefore do not deserve to be treated with such disrespect, and for the parents that have nothing to do with his organization he owes them a HUGE APOLOGY
Tell me please, when is abuse fine? What he did was abusive, period. Those parents will do what they think their children want. They want to cheer and will accept what John puts out. Well, they shoud think again. If he acts like that in public, then what is he doing to the kids behind closed practices. Oh no, not me, not my child, not ever! We all know how kids won't tell us what is going on but they have now seen the tip of the iceburg and now the decisions are in their hands. I've got one more thing to ask, if he is yelling at you that way, what do you think he is doing to your child? A previous post said something to the effect, that "he loves us", sounds just like an abusive relationship to me.
I am not sure why CO parents are so concerned about us. I will ponder the public obsession, but that is for another time. Please refrain from all of the comments about us as we could fire back as well but are choosing not to. Is any program perfect-no. Most parents and athletes come to POWER for specific reason. Therir record speaks for itself, but also most kids and parents love the owner. Not all, but you cant please everyone. Good luck with the rest of your season. i enjoyed your senior coed 5. I like the rotuine a lot and I am also a fan of you Junior 3. Both teams are very fun to watch
You guys must be off the hook this year. It comes with tte territoy. We got beat up alot last year on this board, so we know how ya feel, Keep your heads up and keep workin in the gym, When people cannot talk about your teams they talk about other stuff. You guys rock. See you later this year. Saw a couple of your routines on youtube ad you looked insane. Just remember that jealousy is something that happens when you are good.

Power parents are threatening. "If you don't shut up, we're going to tell your dirty little secrets..." "Oh, and by the way, we like your teams too." I wonder if they learn that from John? In any case, I'm sure we'll be hearing from him shortly.

THIS IS NOT FROM A UCF PARENT!!!!
SHAME ON YOU FOR WRITING SUCH AN INCORRECT STATEMENT! KEEP YOUR ISSUES TO YOURSELF!! YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO STIR UP THE POT! GEEZZZZ!!!
I guess I now understand that perception is reality even though it may not be what really is or was. I was trying to convey information to my parent’s one section at a time, so yes I was loud; trying to talk over the blaring music is a task. I can see how some of you may have viewed it as yelling at my parents, I was yelling, but not at them LOL. I will work on how I can communicate with them at competitions so this misinterpretation doesn’t happen again. Maybe I can get big colored cue cards Red = stand and yell, blue = quiet, and silver = bang away. I tell ya trying to organize and control our great parent rooting section sometimes is tough.
FYI...There was an incident with CO owner/parent and myself, but that is a private matter
Best of luck to all
JOHN
POWER please refrain from taking part in any of this, we have work to do, our next competition is only weeks away.
Gosh you Co parents are CRAZY!!!! I think you all need to simmer on the cafiene. That post before was anyone can talk about anyone. NCE could talk about Power, Power could talk about NCe, cheergyms could talk about divas, but for the most part they do not. No program is perfect- yourr eihter FYI
Honestly, the hate that you show for them is a little tranparent. I would let it go. I know several girls that cheer at Power and they LOVe it and love John. You do not have to love him.
I think you all should stay away from the caffiene a little. No more STARBUCKS for CO parents. Peace POWER. Love ya
This is why this board should start requiring a logon. Too many people get on this board and insist on all this drama. Do you think some of these comments would be made if you had to sign your name to one of these post. When my daughter first joined Cheergyms I encouraged her to read this message board. Now I discourage it. It's really quite sad.
there is a big difference between constructive and malicious. Let every team deal with their own politics within their own gyms. If you do not belong to a program then it obviously doesn't concern you. Every team at gssa had things to work on, including the teams parents and coaches, so why not worry about your own program then someone elses?
okay on that note, i might sound hypocritical, but u all had it coming. just my two cents...
first off, Power is an amazing team with outstanding coaches, and dedicated parents. Whatever you may have seen may be something you may not have seen and vice versa. Power has definitely earned they're respect and shouldn't have to be criticised by programs that are falling apart at the seams with their own problems. They are definitely a force to be reckoned with and I am proud that such talent is coming out of NOR CAL.
Cheer Odyssey's level 5 coed may not have had all the difficulty expected from limited coed level 5, but then again it was a new routine they had only put together in 2 weeks with a competition in between. Most teams had been practicing as a level 5 team since august so please hold your negative comments because you just might be eating them very soon. For a two week routine, it looked clean and effortless, and i can only think that it will get better.

I do not know who is trying to stir things up between CO and Power but it needs to stop. I am a mother from CO and I have never heard anything but nice things said about Power. I'm sorry that one person from CO had to come on here and start bashing Power. We think Power is awesome and we always support your teams. So I just wanted to speak up for CO and say I am sorry for that one parent and hopefully it doesn't give Power bad feelings against CO.
