exactly....they really used the levels and the skills within the levels to add to your score. The tech merit portion was smaller than any other section of the score sheet other than deductions.
So this appears to be a heads-up to gyms -- clean and simple is the way to go if you want to win. Don't waste your time on technical merit, keep it simple.
I watched GSSA all day too. If I am not mistaken, Power has nothing but tech difficulty in all their routines..and they win! So how does that translate to clean and simple? I think you have to have the difficulty but MAKE it look simple! Just my 2 1/2 cents!
I thought the competition between Motions and NCE was interesting and looks to be a great rivalry for this year. I think cheer Odyssey is was out of thier league and will get last all year in level 5 and if that is ok with them then go for it.
Motions- Clean and clean some more. I think that they have upped thier difficulty though and this is really evident. Loved the opening and was impressed that they were pushing it. The pyramid improved too. i would worry at the NAtional level about thier depth, but they are on track and should be a force the entire year.
NCE- they did not win, but I am impressed with the improvement that they have made in the past month. You could see that they were feeling it and had confidence. They are going to need to clean up and hit the routine or they will lose time after time. great job thoug, I think you are going to the right direstion
Cheer Odyssey- Fun routine for level 4 or 3. I think the Pyramids Coed level 3 would be a great competition for you. It seemed like you only had 3-4 level 5 athletes on that team. MAJOR improvements on your skills are needed. I would go level 3 or 4 at national events. I think the cellar is where you will be if you dont
That's what we've been saying about the CO routine (those of us who saw it at Jamz Cow Palace). Not enough skills for level 5. I hope they take the criticism to heart and not blow it off as people being negative, because I would love to see them step it up and truly compete at that level.

Yes I would like to see that also. I think as CO stated last week on this message board, they have to start somewhere (in level 5).... they WELL know that they have to add more difficulty to hang. Kudos to them for getting in there and trying. Can't wait to see what they add at the next comp. Don't let others get you down, you guys are great and will continue to improve the rest of the season as you already have. As you said "you have to start somewhere"!

Actually it does not matter how gets what. A lot of programs did great this weekend. Obviosuly Power did Outstanding ( actually the tiny's did not compete, so you cannot count them as 1st's and I LOVED Ap's tinies. They were so cute and difficult for that age) Cheergyms did great too. good luck to all as the season progresses.

You must be a disgrutled washed up loser to leave comments like that. I commend CO for going out there and competing in Level 5 . You idiot they know they are not Level 5 yet they would rather lose in level 5 that have no competition in Level 4 that is a true team that takes risks and doesn't play it safe. I loved seeing the little red head on the CO Coed team she was amazing, I believe she is only 12. She looked like she was having fun!!!

Wow "Washed up". Your comments were just as rude and uncalled for.
Good job CO. Keep up the good work and don't let anyone get you down. People on the boards will take any opportunity to cut down teams, no matter who they are. I enjoyed watching you and "the liitle red head". Glad you're still cheering!

Great job Power, your teams as usual were great and fun to watch. Power parents you guys rock the house with your power sticks and "spirit for power" chant. I must say that I have always admired your dedication and team spirt, and i must tell you that I admire you even more after seeing one of your coach/owners LOOSE his mind this weekend. I am still in shock at how that man yelled at all of you about not yelling loud enough, not standing up, and letting other team parents show you up. My kids kept alking me Mom what is wrong with him? Why is he yelling at us? Kudos to ALL of the POWER PARENTS AND TEAMS you all looked amazing as always. To the coach, I hope that you check you blood pressure often cause you scared the heck out of me... I thought you were going to burst a vessel. Take care of yourself OK?

WHAT AN EMBARRASSMENT to POWER! Thats exactly why I would never what to be a part of that organization, i think their scared to death thats why they cheer so loud! Good luck to power, I hope that coach is recovered!Good luck power girls, you guys keep working your butts off :)
I saw that too. Seemed like most of the people he was yelling at were giving him the "are you really yelling at me" look. Some of them were even rolling their eyes about the entire thing. I don't think they are afraid of him, maybe just use to it? I don't know, to each his own. Good Luck Power, you guys did great this weekend as always. And Power parents, you did a great job too!

Cheer Odysseys coed level 5 was pushed into that division not by choice.
I am assuming you are talking about John. I have cheered for him for 4 years and LOVE him. He is the best coach you could ever ask for. He is tough but fair. He is like my dad. He lets me know what I can do and what I cannot do. I know that sometimes he is intense, but he shows his love even bigger. He is not for everyone, but I am glad he is for me. I LOVE YOU John. You were a riot at the Kings game last night and I loved how proud you were of us
It is ok... no worries wrote: I am assuming you are talking about John. I have cheered for him for 4 years and LOVE him. He is the best coach you could ever ask for. He is tough but fair. That is great to hear sweetie. I am glad that what was displayed was not the "norm" for your coach. I also happened to be seated in a "POWER" section at GSSA and must admitt that I also was shocked at the way he was talking to his staff and parents. I am sure it was just a misunderstanding, we all sometimes speak in way that might not seem "PC" enough for others around us. No damage done, if the POWER kids and parents are ok with it, then lets just let this rest. It really is none of our concern. POWER keep up the good work!
