So what if we are getting off topic. I think the point is to not bury your heads in the sand and to be sure you keep a vigilant watch on your daughters. Some stranger taking pictures at a competition is not nearly as scary as a predator finding these pictures that are quite pornographic in nature and tracking these girls to their gym. The point is you need to be aware of your surroundings and actions. You just never know where a predator may be lurking, could be online, could be at a competition. The main goal is to keep the kids safe.
One should always be careful when posting anything on myspace or other websites. But hey, let's not post the names of gyms or the exact websites for even more to see, let's do the smart thing and contact the gyms if there are issues they should be aware of. It's just common courtesy.
If I had posted my post with daiseys and lillies and never mentioned a particular name, it still would have been thought of as negative. Truthfully, I don't care if anyone thought it was negative. The nicest comments on this message board are made out to be negative.
I was looking for their website is what I was looking for. I had heard of them once before and was looking to jar my memory. I am on this computer all day for work and get tired of doing the same thing, so going to cheer websited gives me something else to look at for fun. Especially when we are going to a competition. I have been doing it for years. I love to see what everyone is doing and if there are new photos, new uniforms, new coaches, kids I recognize from over the years, etc.
What I found was disgusting. Now, these girls are teens and yes, teens make mistakes. But these pictures were on purpose and taken deliberatly. I pointed this out because we were talking about innaprpopriate photos of cheerleaders online and at competitions. Those girls were wearing that gyms logo in all of the other pictures, so if that ONE didn't have that logo in it, it still seems as if they were from that gym. I don't know this for sure, but whatever. That's not my point.
Give the gym a heads up? Sure! If I could find ANY info on them online I would have! Come here and tell other concerned parents what I found? I would do it again in a heartbeat. If something is going on that concerns a child that is NOT OK, I would come here and tell all of you again. Whether they are from my gym, your gym, my friends gym, or ANY gym.... if something is wrong, there is NEVER EVER a time when it is ok to ignore it just cause you couldn't find info. Boy, once I posted, I got their info quick, didn't I? All of my cheer board friends stepped in and helped me out.
As before, I am SURE someone will take this post as negative. And truthfully, I don't care one bit. I post my name on purpose because I feel it important that you all know who is saying what and no one gym is blamed. I stand behind my actions and words. This has NOTHING to do with the competition. The competition has to do with cheerleading and what each team brings to the mat. And if someone on my daughters team were taking pictures like those and I found out on this message board, I would have thanked the person who posted it, NOT the negative people who hide behind anonymitity. Common courtsey tells us as parents, that we watch out for others children. And if we cannot contact the correct people to tell them, we find out how. If any of you out there wish to not keep innapropriate photos to yourself and should you not be able to contact the gym because they don't have any info listed online, I would hope and pray that you would use common sense and come here where all of us care about cheer and the kids just as much as I do.
These girls are not being taken advantage of by a predator. They are posting these photos of themselves! And in turn, they are also bringing that gym into the mix where it would be EASY to find them, should some weirdo wish to. This is something that my gym would take EXTREMELY serious. And if any of you should find photos of anyone at our gym that are of this nature, and you don't have our contact info, I would encourage you to come here where the parents care about each other and each others children. As adults, we all know that this has nothing to do with the cheer gym and the cheer teams. We sure like to repeat that when we are complaining about saving seats. "It's the few parents who ruin it for that gym." Well, like I said before, it reflects on that gym if you are wearing that gyms logo. But we all know that each individual makes his/her own decisions. But it's up to that gym to correct the problem.
I am going to view all of the posts as a positive step in the right direction. None of us ever wish this upon any of our children nor any of our fellow gyms. And in the future, I will watch out for all of you and your children. And if something is wrong, I will be the FIRST ONE to help you. No matter who says I am wrong. I won't let your child become a victim. And I would hope that you all would do the same for me.
Now, as for the competition. OC is so excited to be competing against Maximum!!! We wish all of you the best and hopefully this (really short) competition is fun and rewarding for all! Be safe everyone!
Did I just write a novel???? I swear, I got a phone call in the middle of writing and I guess I didn't realize that I had written that much!!! Sorry guys!!! hahahahahahahaha

OC Mom
No, you needed to make your point!!! I do not think everyone who responds are parents. To us safety is our first concern...the reputation of a gym comes or anything else is an after thought. I tried to find them on line as well and couldn't. You did the right thing by posting.
I hope Maximum understands that I dont think any less of their gym because of those photos. Thanks for your support. It's wonderful to know you're all out there!!!
First of all, I give you alot of credit for posting your thoughts as you do! (Choosing only to stay semi-anonymous). Most of us choose not to. You're a person with conviction, and that's the best type of person to have in your corner!!! Knowing people like yourself are at the same functions as my daughter, and many other girls that we care about is a great thing. I don't know you but, I think many of us parents and coaches have the same concerns and it's a relief to have an active parent rather than a "silent do nothing" approach, as most people chooose to be!!! I didn't take your intial enty offensive, but when you chose to explain your reasons it made it more clear and justified. I know I would want the gym we were a part of to know of any inappropriate picturess that were posted that might be connected with our team/club be removed immediately, period! Let's all do our best to watch out for eachother, and our kids! :)
Sorry, but I cannot agree with the way this was handled. And for OCM to say she would do it again does not make me feel any better, Now many of us have seen this website, and we otherwise would not have. How is that a good thing? There were much better ways to handle this. OCM, I'm glad you have those in your corner who think you did the right thing, but know that there are some of us who don't agree at all with the way this was handled. Now I'll leave you and your group of supporters to do all your other google searches and such looking for other gyms to mention. Gyms you claim you're trying to "protect". Meanwhile I'll focus on the real issues and people we're trying to protect our children from.
If any good thing came out of this it's that people are now aware of what can happen if girls/guys from your gym mention your gym name on the same site where inappropriate pictures are posted. Might be a good idea for all of us to google our own gyms to see if this applies to us. You wouldn't want to find out the hard way!

Thanks OC Mom. You did nothing wrong, and I appreciate you bringing it to our "Cheer World's" attention. I would've done the same thing if it were me. WE need to protect our children, and you brought something to my attention that I woudn't have known about. So the "Nay-Sayers" need to look at this differently. Of course they won't. Like someone said, no matter what you say on this board, you will always have someone who will take the topic negatively and will enjoy putting that "Poster" down. Please don't stop being yourself. There are many, many of us who appreciate what you did!!
Mistakes in judgement all around, from the post on this message board to the teenagers posting the pictures. Let's all try to learn from them and move on, shall we?
Oh that's EXACTLY what I did after that!!! Scary!!! Our problem is when I type in OC, you wouldn't BELIEVE all the pages that come up!!! From news, to television shows, and more.... so it's so hard to really find anything.
Try an advanced search in google, you can type in OC All Star. Then right above you can put cheer, that might help narrow it down. Or try variations of advanced searches. Oh, another good one is put myspace somewhere in your search.
I think it's reasonable to tell the members of your gym that if they're going to put anything on myspace or any other website that might be inappropriate, it is unacceptable to tie their gym name in with it because people will put the two together, unfortunately.
I totally agree with you OC mom. As I stated before we all have to be aware and watch out for our kids. I know this is off the subject but yesterday in the Los Angeles times. It stated that the Club Cheer Twister coach had pleaded guilty to 2 charges giving estacy to a minor and oral copulation. Because he had pleaded guilty to those the D.A. dropped the other charges. Get this he will not have to register as a sexual affender all he has to tell his employer that he was arrested and was in jail if they ask. He is due to be sentenced in January 07. So everyone out there just watch over your kids.
Oxnard cheerleading coach pleads guilty to drug, sex charges
By Gregory W. Griggs, Times Staff Writer November 28, 2006
An Oxnard cheerleading coach pleaded guilty Monday to providing a 16-year-old student with the drug Ecstasy and engaging in oral sex with the girl.
Jonathon Rios, 27, pleaded guilty to two of the four felony counts he originally faced after his arrest in October. The Ventura County district attorney's office agreed to drop charges of statutory rape and sodomy with a person younger than 18.
Senior Deputy Dist. Atty. Maeve Fox said Rios faces more than nine years in prison, but that his early admission of guilt probably will mean that he gets less than the maximum sentence.
"We like it when people take responsibility early," Fox said. "My argument is that he should go to prison. If that happens, I would consider it a victory."
Rios and his wife operate Club Cheer Twisters, a cheerleader training facility in Oxnard.
Despite his guilty plea, Rios will not have to register as a sex offender, but would be obligated to notify prospective employers of his conviction, Fox said.
Rios, who remains in custody, is set to be sentenced Jan. 12. His attorney, Paul Takakjian of Los Angeles, could not be reached for comment.
Hello OC mom and others....after looking at those photos I too was "bothered" so I contacted the gym in question, instead of voicing an opinion here...and it is NOT , I repeat NOT their gals. The coach also check with another gym of the same name and it is NOT their gals either. So both coaches are mystified as to yet ANOTHER team of the same name somewhere...... Here is the Wonderful Maximum coaches note back to me, which I feel is ok to share with you all.....
******************************* Hello April,
I really do not know who these girls are. It’s not any of our kids. The Maximum All stars coach in Pennsylvania and I have e-mailed each other about it. It’s not her girls either.
I wish I could find out who they are – I thought some of the pictures were inappropriate too. Can’t seem to find anything else out about them.
Our website is www.maximumallstars.com
Thanks for looking out for the kids, it’s great parents like you that we love to see in cheer.
Thanks April! You are so sweet! I am relieved to hear that those girls don't belong to Maximum and I was even looking for a way to contact the webmaster that day to request the pics be taken off. There were worse ones there, so I have a feeling they know about them. I hope Maximum tells the other girls with the gym shirts on to take THEIR pics off that site. It's embarassing for them and I hope we all can spread the word that this is just not ok.
If anyone runs into anything else, we can all ban together and try and get it off line.
