You say that you helped with the creation of the Top Gun uniform, however I know the three people that sat down and designed it- Cory, Kristen, and Gregory. Now, I do know that the compay that designed this uniform was Ammer Athletics on Allcustomsportswear based out in Florida.
If you are who you say you are, what brings to you California from just 30 minutes outside Miami?
LOVE the Top Gun coed uniform. And YEs, most teams CAN'T pull it off, but hey there is only 1 Top Gun. they always set the trends in style and admit it or not, lots of us are jealous of a team like them and wish our kids could pull off a uniform like that. I LOVE THAT Uniform. It is GORGEOUS!!! Work it TG.

Am I getting close?

So much emphasis is placed on who I am rather than the opinions I provide. I did help with the creation of the uniform - you can't just sketch something out without consulting with someone with knowledge to ensure that it will work; fabrics and stitching styles play a major role in creating a custom uniform and look. I've mentioned before that I travel the country (and even some other parts of the world) to do this, and I travel a lot period for work and pleasure. The original design of this uniform was not the concept of any of those (people and companies) mentioned above. Believe it or not, this uniform was originally a concept from a very old (circa 1980's) Varsity sweater, minus the upper fabric panels and lower hem! A future evolution of this design is the OCC / OC uniform that I also discussed in this thread previously. The basis of this uniform design is the logo/letters placed between two horizontal striping sections on a light background, accented by arm panels of a darker color to highlight. You mentioned to me via email that you were interested in the industry; another thing you must learn is the difference between design and manufacturing. But with all that said, I'm happy for you... you seem to know your stuff and have the passion to drive it!
Just to correct a part of and earlier post from Uniform Police: Top Gun's uniform and routine from '04-'05 were hot. But they did not win at World's. Miami Elite did with their great "Big Spender" dance.

You are correct! I stand corrected, Ace Dad! Thanks for pointing that out! I was thinking about another comp from that season that they won.

What I want to know is how those girls kept that uniform up in while doing their routine. (They should win some kind of award for that alone!)
You're not the first to ask that question :)
The uniforms were made out of a lighter fabric with slightly more stretch to it than the MotionFlex fabric offered by Varsity. They featured a hidden seam under the striping areas that were made tighter than the fabric panels. Because of this, when you wear a strapless bra underneath the top, the upper and lower portions of the top fit tighter, leaving you room in the midsection to ummm, shall we say, "fill it out" and secure it to your body? Also, The original design had the uniform top separated into three pieces, the tube top and the two arm pieces. By ensuring that the pieces were all connected under the arms with a snug fit, the top was further secured to stay on everytime the girls did a High V! I hope this makes sense, however just imagine yourself wearing a tight sweater...when you raise your arms, the fact that the arms are connected to the body of the sweater at the armpit, actually pulls the sweater slightly upward! Talk about the dynamics behind cheerleading uniform design huh?
That's really high-tech in-depth knowledge. I salute you, Uniform Police! You really do know what you're talking about. Your postings are very informative as well as hilarious! Keep them coming! And oh, can I book you to do my team's uniforms for next season?

You obviously have a lot of knowledge, if I e-mail you would you reveal your identity or at least give some helpful hints?

Kezzie from UNLV Cheer
Thanks, Kezzie! I believe you and I met once, a few years back, at a competition. I know you because you had your name on the front of your jacket when I walked past and told you that your skirt had a rip in the back. You freaked out because your team was up to perform just a few minutes later! By the way, where's the sewing kit I loaned you to fix it? ;o)

I can't reveal to you who I am, but I most certainly can help give you tips or hints on design tactics for your teams! Some of my friends who currently coach visit this web board often and then call me to keep me updated when I'm on the road - thanks for keeping my identity secret! Anonymity is the route I've chosen to go with here, and I would like to ask everyone who enjoys my postings to respect that. Keep in mind, though, that it's not about the person behind the words - it's about how the words affect you, and what you learn.... who I am is irrelevant, and if it's made known, will only show bias and favortism to the critics out there who'd love to associate me to a team, company, location, or city!
Its okay to put heavy girls in half tops...we already put them in little minis that reveal butt to ankle...besides, wearing a half top may serve as the motivation the these athletes need to become more fit. and thats a win win situation because lighter girls go higher...allll physics ;]
This is Cory...Cheerleader, Dancer, Coach, and one of three of the gyms uniform designers for the Top Gun All-Stars here in Miami, Florida. Ive gotten a few questions and im's about someone coming on this board and claiming to be one of the designers or "creative minds" behind our uniforms...Such is not the case! Our uniforms in the past four years have been conceptualized by Kristen Rosario, Gregory Williams, and myself. They were made by Ammer Athletics a local Miami based company, under our close supervision. Anyone who says differently is not speaking the truth.
Bryan wrote: Were you behind the creation of this uniform as well?
Unfortunately I can not take credit for this uniform, Bryan. Star cut-outs are not of my signature design nor are chokers built into a uniform, however they seem to be all the craze lately with some programs - but that's a separate story altogether. Cory, if you are who you say you are, then you and I knew each other on a business level; that's all I can say here for now. Feel free to email me though, so we can catch up! Kristen and Vic are old friends as well-I knew them both even before the were married and was in the crowd at the competition where Vic proposed to Kristen; the goold ol' days. My opinion was even asked (before your time, Cory) to develop the funky plastic material used on the old Legends uniforms' lettering; rememeber that? I can say that at the time, I was a rep for a uniform company based out of the east coast.
Sorry, I can't go into further detail here, but I must re-iterate, this board is about uniform opinion - not who I am, so let's please keep the postings directed at just that. For those of you out there who are purely interested in figuring out the face and name behind the Uniform Police, please post elsewhere under a different topic and continue to speculate with the rest of them; Lord knows there are enough critics out there who are dying to get to the bottom of the mystery :) However, for the rest of you who love reading and asking questions about uniform design and critique, keep the postings coming - my presence on this message board is dedicated to you!
Cheers!

PS - I'll be away for a few days; off to another fun caper in the uniform fashion world....next stop? Texas!
I am sorry but I can't take your opinion seriously unless I know who you are. This is driving me crazy. I think that you are full of yourself. Sadly enough I keep reading the threads. Are you planning on starting your own uniform company and you are using this site as advertisement? Please give us some credentials.
Who cares who he is, even if he did design Top Gun's uniform. I for one don't even value his opinion because more than half of the teams he/she has listed have hideous uniforms
Come on, lighten up folks. The posts are fun. Even when our gym's uniforms are mentioned, and not in a positive way, I still get a kick out of them. I never mind reading someone else's point of view, even if I disagree.

It really doesn't matter who he/she is. Credentials aren't even necessary because even if this person some amazing authority on uniforms, everything's based on taste. If this person were the CEO of Varsity we'd still have people out there who'd disagree with their opinions, and this person made it very clear that this is all based on OPINION, this means you don't have to agree. The fact that you keep reading the threads indicates that you find them interesting to some degree, and we all have to agree that if this person was really bogus and full of bad information, we'd stop reading and care less altogether - and we wouldn't even waste effort in posting negative responses! In the end, credentials don't mean anything to me. I personally love your posts, Uniform Police, please keep them coming. Your style of writing is like the critiques we get in the popular girly mags we all read, and I think that's why we come here to see what you have to say. I don't mind or care who you are and what teams you've designed for or companies you represent, you obviously have knowledge of the uniform industry that you share and make fun for us to read and understand. If I didn't buy into you knowing what you talk about (even if i don't always agree on your taste or style) I personally would stop reading this thread altogether and so would everyone else here. Admit it or not, we love what you have to say even though at times we say we hate it, that's why we read and post and respond (and come back for more!!!). You're a funny, charasmatic person, and I LOVE IT!!!
