He said that he didn't have a picture and didn't know if they were still with the old uni. He didn't like the old one with the "P" on the top. He didn't know if they had changed uniforms or not but advised them to do so. Question, do you read well?

I read just fine!!! I made 2 different statements and separated them intentionally, I really do like POWER's uniform. I wasn't being a smart a#@, I really want to see what his idea of the perfect uniform is.
well the uniforms look really good in person adn on the floor .. the tops are great but i think it would look less busy if there were no sequins on the skirt part..then it would be more evened out. But the tops are very creative .. MUCH better than anything they've had
Everyone needs to calm themselves. Like, this doesn't need to be a broadway musical everytime "The Uniform Police" leaves a post on here. Let them say what they will, wether or not you agree with it, but no need to attack someone cause you didnt agree with them, because NOTHING that was said was mean i don't think, just an honest opinion about someone who for the most part knows what their talking about.
Bryan, hahaha.... you have an excellent eye for style. True, this uniform reveals a little too much skin for most girls to pull off, but the Girls of Top Gun were the only ones in my opinion who could do something this racy and make it work - I repeat for the critics out there.... this look is NOT for everyone! To answer your question, Bryan, these uniforms receive my stamp of approval; they had to... I was behind much of the design and fitting concept and this was a personal project I took on to help a friend out who was looking for something new and racy! When these debuted on the cheer scene a few years ago on TG's large co-ed team, they were the talk of the town, however, when coupled with TG's talent and World Title that year, who was to argue? I give these a 9.
Now that I see a few of the new uniforms from Power, I have to say good job overall! The only thing in my opinion, that I'd stay away from, are the sequins on the striping. Nice length, good fit (as best as it's gonna get with that MotionFlex fabric from Varsity), and appropriate use of color. The design itself though, is not completely custom. Check out the Varsity 2002-2003 catalogs and you'll see the diamond chest pattern first shown there, with the side lines pointing inward. What is custom about this uniform is the cutout at the shoulders. Thank goodness you guys went away from the "P" uniform, and better yet, away from the bulky sweaters with the embroidery! Your new look in midriff style gets you a 7.5! Keep it coming!!!
Lastly, for your critics out there.... I have decided to remain anonymous for a few reasons. This is purely a commentary based on opinion. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying that these are my views, so take them for what they're worth. I do think it's rude to walk up to people at comps and out-of-the-blue give them critique, so I'm not doing that. I'm not a mean person, but I do have my opinions, and from what I can tell here, they hold value to most who read my posts! Besides, this board is called "Anonymous Arlene".... anonymity is expected here! If I felt like telling people who I am I'd post elsewhere. You have to admit it's kind of funny though.... so far, people have tried to link me to 4-5 different teams, 4 different uniform manufacturers, and a few other organizations; but they won't believe it for a second when I tell them that they are all wrong :)

Now, let's think about this for a second. If a judge tells the crowd right away what his/her idea of perfection is by naming a specific team, that shows bias, right? Likewise, if I point out the perfect uniform to you, people won't hesitate to disagree just because it's a team that I pointed out, and I don't want my opinions here to seem biased, so for now, I must refrain from naming teams with a uniform that scores a true 10 out there. I will tell you that there are at least 2 that come to mind though, and both programs have attended Worlds consistently! In the NorCal area, in my opinion (read that last word again) Ultimate currently has my vote in the areas of creativity, originality, color use, lettering and logo use, and fit. In the SoCal area, my vote of opinion (read that last word again) goes to CA Bullets. And no, for the critics out there, I do not have affiliation with either of these programs; but I'm sure you'll want to believe otherwise or speculate.....who knows? Maybe tomorrow someone will think I'm really Hilary Clinton by the end of the day? Hahaha! :)
PLEASE...get it right! wrote: To the Uniform Police…
You sound like a fired former employee of Varsity/CDT. It is obvious you are not aware of the standards of the Northern California teams that you have mentioned in your diatribe. You are wrong about POWER as they have brand new custom uniforms that first debuted at Worlds. You were also wrong about their logo, as someone else has previously mentioned. They have appeared in many magazines since then and will continue to set the trends. Cheer Odysseys’ uniform reflects their clean cut image and it does not matter if they have a uniform another program has. Their signature logo sets them apart as well as their class, work ethic and abilities.
The suggestion that teams go to half tops is crazy. Yes, if you compete all over the country, you should consider crop tops, but level 1, 2, and 3 teams do not need to expose as much of their flesh. We are more conservative in California and it is more important to promote self image rather than to show your skin. Many all star teams will place kids on teams and develop them into star athletes as they progress. Do not force these kids to diet at such an early age. It is not appropriate and definitely not healthy. Keep your day job, as your self effacing words on what a person looks like is not appreciated. If you are so strong with your convictions, do not hide behind anonymity!
Oh, this post has me laughing way too hard! The truth of the matter is that Varsity/CDT, Elite, Dehen, Pep Threads, and Spirit Innovations have all made offers to me over the past two years to join their staff as a designer! I wasn't ready to move and leave my home to join any of these companies just yet, so I respectfully declined each one. For now, I'm helping out friends who are coaches get truly custom looks for their programs, when asked. I pretty much lay low otherwise. Now, by saying that, I'm pretty sure some of you have figured out who I am by now, and if you have, please keep my identity confidential so I can continue to provide these commentaries. Lastly, if you can get anyone else in the country to believe that California is conservative, then you should run for President and knock Mr. Bush out of office, because girl, you can sell it faaaar better than he ever could! Hahaha!
your opinion wrote: Fashion Police, what is your opinion on the best hair, bows and makeup? Or are you strictly on unifom patrole?
Thanks for asking! My area of expertise is the entire look package! All opinion based of course, but since you asked for my input, I'll give you a few pointers and tips....
Hair: This actually has much to do with the choice of neckline of your uniform so there are several options out there. The hip thing right now? Easy! For All-Star, half-up half-down, curled, teased, and high up on the head. For school/rec cheer teams, traditional pony, all curled. What I NEVER recommend are the fake cheer curls (the ones that always fall out during routines) and a straight pony tail with absolutely no curl to it (the limp ones that look like horse tails).
Bows: CheerBowsEtc.com is by far the best option for your team, if you can afford them. The staff is very helpful and the bows look great! The key when it comes to bows is to select a pattern and colors that compliment your uniform, so it all ties together well. For example, Motions' new look incorporates black, white, and metallic red. I would not select anything but these exact colors for my bows. A thick white bow base (since the uniform is predominantly black) layered with metallic red and a very thin line of black would look HOT! If you don't want custom bows made or can't afford them, don't despair, a 1.5" - 2" fabric ribbon will do just fine as long as it's one of the exact colors on your uniform.
Make-Up: My sister is a MAC designer/artist (not to be confused with counter rep) and has helped me understand much of what make-up is all about in terms of cheer (we cheered together for many years). This is an area that varies a lot according to the look you want....do you want your team to be sassy? sexy? vicious? amazon? cutesy? conservative? Best bet is to bring your uniform to your local MAC counter and ask to try on different shades. The products that they have that are amazing in my opinion are their ShadeSticks (creamy eye-shadow base that works very well with glitter) and their lipstick lines (very bold, luscious colors). I can't say enough about Rebel (that's their color name for bright red lipstick) - it's the Louisville color of choice!
Hope this answers your questions; it's just difficult because make-up is slightly different for everyone based on the uniform selection, look desired, and overall feel of the team.
To PLEASE... we are more conservative out here in California?? Don't think so! We are far from it, thank goodness. Long live crop tops! I love the direction uniforms are going, and love your posts, Uniform Police, keep 'em coming.
You and I agree on so many things... not the top gun gun uniforms but I agree with what you said about my teams uni's and all of the hair, make-up, and bows. I love your stuff.
