I hate to bring up a sensitive subject but cropped tops do not look good on girls who are a little "thicker". I think it is important to try to find something that will compliment all body types. Hopefully all gym owners will keep this in mind when making uniform decisions. Appearance aside, I am sure the girls with a few extra pounds are self concious as it is.
THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE MEAN OR RUDE

It's not even girls who are "thicker", as you put it. There are plenty of very slim girls who still do not look good in a crop top. I especially hate when a section of dance is down on the floor and the girls are kneeling with their tummies (slender or otherwise) hanging out of those tops.

And as far as age goes, I agree that if you think you just have to go that way with your teams, crop tops should be reserved for senior teams. It's not about being athletic, comfortable, or less hot (then we should all just go sleeveless!). It's a silly trend and I can't wait til it dies.

Are you kidding me?! Hunny you're going to be waiting a long time then, cause there is NO sign of this "trend" going away anytime soon.

(However, this does not mean that i agree with putter "thicker" girls in crop tops, i'm just saying, its not going to stop anytime soon. I don't see any teams converting from crop tops to full tops.)

Fortunately for some, unfortunately for others, it is the old fashioned pop warner/high school style uniforms that are on their way out, not the crop tops. Look around at the next competition you're attending.. do they look like they'll die out soon? Don't think so, but that's just my opinion. I think you can have the best of both worlds.. tops that aren't too short but look up-to-date (not old fashioned or trekkie).

"just cuz it comes in your size dosen't mean you should wear it"

True.. but you can't stop an entire gym from wearing them because a few girls don't look flattering in them. For those girls, a little more material covering the mid section would work; you could do it without making them stand out too. Like the other post said, maybe gyms could work towards the best of both worlds.

I think that might be my new favorite thing to say..."just cuz it comes in your size dosen't mean you should wear it"

Really-one of the funnier things I have read and yet so true.

You need to see the uniforms on the ROYAL tiny teams. THey are very nice. They seem to be custom. I would like to know who did their uniforms. They are much differnt than the rest of their teams. ANYONE know. Uniform police did you see them. They are purple.

Interesting concept for uniforms.... They weren't done by a professional uniform company, that's for sure. The lettering may have been but the uniform itself looks home-made! Wait... I know who designed and made those! Dolly Parton! Apparently she gave up show business and started deigning cheer uniforms instead! Really though, cute color concept, and though I personally don't think slight belly showing on mini teams is a bad thing, I can't say I agree with putting skirt ruffles and neck dickies on little ones. The only thing this look has going for it are the poms. I say these would make a delightful addition to Betty May's Line Dancing Team Apparel program! But that's just my opinion.

Cheers!

Can I ask a question? Why do the powers that be feel the need to make the Tiny's and Mini's skirts so long that they go to their knees? I noticed this on Supreme's Tiny team. These little ones are so small with the biggest skirts ever!!!
