A couple things wrote: 1) I don't think anyone is saying it's a crime. I think what they're saying is that it looks sketchy. Plenty of coaches from teams that didn't compete yesterday showed up to watch. It was just the one group that took video. I think if you look at it from the perspective of the teams that were being taped, you might feel a little differently about it. And I agree with the person that said that the way it was being done (several cameras going at once taking several different angles) is what made it look sketchy. Think what you want, but I can see both sides. On one hand, there's nothing wrong with taking video. On the other, the way it was being done didn't give me the impression it was just like a "oh let's go check out our competition so we can show it to our teams" kind of thing. Maybe I'm wrong; we will see, I guess. But I think if you look at it from whatever the opposite perspective is that you have, you can see why it looks "off" to some.
Ok, now I'm not NO FILM MAJOR or anything, but if you're having "several cameras going at once taking several different angles", wouldn't these cameras have to be placed ALL around the arena? and not in just ONE SPOT. I think that if several different people are recording an event, it's because they want their OWN copy and are trying to avoid hunting people down to get a copy from them. I know I HATE going around asking for a copy of anything so I just get what I want myself.
ALSO, if there's people out there which I don't doubt, that want to record our teams...by all means go ahead, I'm not going be all paranoid and over-analytical of the situation. BIG DEAL! IF THEY'RE TAKING THE TIME AND MEMORY CARD TO VIDEO TAPE MY TEAM....I WOULDN'T HAVE A COW! It's a compliment! and if they don't..it's their choice as well! NO NEED TO BE GETTING ALL PARAOIND PATTY on everyone ya'll!

The level 3 team looked a little scared. I understand it was the first time on a competition floor ever for several of them. The scores in that division were a little wonky. I had them in 4th with whatever it was that happened in the tumbling segment. It looked like the very first tumblers went late and started a timing issue that lasted the entire segment, but who knows for sure what happened. I just know that part looked off.
But as far as their coed level 4, you need your opthamologist's prescription updated! That routine was fun, different and exciting! And when you compare it to 99% of the other routines all day...
My teams were not at this competition but I'm glad I went to watch (and no, I didn't videotape LOL). It was a long day, but most of the teams looked at least clean and ready to perform, which was a big upgrade from Jamfest, with falls left and right all day long.
THIS IS JUST SO UNBELIEVEABLE, PEOPLE ASSUSING OTHER PEOPLE OF VIDEO TAPING TO STEAL ROUTINES.. IF YOU ARE SO SURE THIS IS WHAT THEY WERE DOING, THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SIMPLY GO UP AND CONFRONT THEM ON THIS. I MYSELF HAVE BEEN TO MANY COMPS AND HAVE RECORDED SEVERAL OTHER TEAMS, SO ARE YOU SAYING THAT IF ANYONE RECORDS THAT THEY ARE OUT TO STEAL FROM SOMEONE ELSE?
HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN THE WORD ASSUME AND BROKE IT DOWN? WELL IF YOU TRY IT YOU MAY REALIZE EXACTLY WHAT THE WORD MEANS. HA HA
HAHAHA YA'LL JUST NEED TO TAKE A CHILL PILL AND JUST LET IT GO... IF IN FACT THEY'RE "STEALING" YOUR ROUTINES...WHICH I DOUBT HAHAHA I KNOW I WOULDN'T BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE MY GYM'S NAME OUT THERE, IF THEY ARE THEN THAT'S ON THEM....AND THEY'LL BE THROWING THEIR NAME DOWN THE DRAIN AND THEY'LL BE KNOWN AS THE ONES THAT STEAL CHOREOGRAPHY!!!
BELIEVE ME IT'S ALL SEEN OUT ON THE FLOOR...SO STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHO DOES THIS AND WHO DOES THAT.... JUST BRING IT TO THE FLOOR!!!! GEEEZ!
BELIEVE ME...JUDGES ALSO KNOW WHEN ROUTINES ARE BEING "BORROWED" AND IF IN FACT THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE DOING...BELIEVE ME...EVERYONE WILL KNOW!
AGAIN....VISIT THIS PAST WEEKEND'S ROUTINES FOR THOSE TEAMS THAT "BORROWED" STINGRAYS' STUNTS AND DANCE!!! OH YEAH AND THAT TEAM THAT USED CALIFORNIA ALLSTARS' MUSIC....HAHA I WAS DYING WHEN I HEARD "C.A." IN THEIR MUSIC...HAHAHAHAHA
SO THERE YOU GO... SO WHY DONT YA STAY OFF THESE GUYS AND JUST WAIT TIL THEY HIT THE FLOOR!!!
They looked wonderfully amazing! And I don't think I'm saying that just cuz Summer's on that team. ;)
From what I can remember when I replay it in my head without the rose glasses on: There was one stunt that came down early (not a fall, off count), and I think there was one tumbler that had a brief touch.
But, as usual, when you know all the struggles, you can't help but to beam when they pull it off when it counts.
I couldn't be prouder of that group! And their coach, who never gives up!
Another way to look at the video taping of other teams is not necessarily to steal material, but to go back and change your routine based on what your competition is doing to make sure you are doing "more", "different" or "difficult" routine than you were doing before you saw your competition. If they tape it they have something to reference over and over again. Is it wrong, I don't think so. Does it give that team an advantage? I don't think so. Does it say something about their coaching staff in a negative way? I think so. My viewpoint, your coaches should have enough experience and confidence in their abilities to put a routine together without worrying about what everyone else is doing. Again, just a view point that may or may not have any merit.
Who cares who video taped who? The CG teams will have their performances up on youtube soon I'm sure.
Honestly......there wasnt anything during the entire day worth stealing.
oh and a quick thought.....why would a program like Cheer Divas pay big money to have the Cheer Force coach do their routines? It seems to me that if he had any truly great ideas he would save them for his teams. Therefore the Divas would actually be paying for all of his 2nd and 3rd rate ideas. Structurally i didnt see any big differences in their routines.
That being said i think the Divas are Nor Cals strongest level 4 representation along with Power.
cheer xplosions junior 3 team sould be a 2 team. people missing backhandsprings on a level 3 team...give me a break. Their program needs to be cleaned up. Their youth team was the cleanest. Good job ladies.
I personally loved Pyramids senior 3 routine-nice job ladies and gentlemen.

If your premise was true, why would anyone hire any of the Cheer Athletics, Top Gun, World Cup or Gym Tyme coaches for choreography? Wouldn't those coaches save all their "good" ideas for their own Gyms?
I saw a lot of levels that should have been lower with various gyms. Being the first competition for a lot of teams, their routines are most likely a work in progress that will only get better. Some gyms like to start of high to see how they fair. Also I know this is true for some of the teams in our gym, girls will throw certain tumbling skills at practice but freeze up when it's time to do them on stage; that will also change in time. I liked Cheer Xplosion's routines, they just need work.
I enjoyed the level 5 routines from Motions and Pyramids, and I enjoyed Pyramid's Senior Co-ed Level 3 routine too, nice and clean. Enjoyed the routines from Sacramento Royal All Stars, I thought they always stood out over others. I agree with the other post about Cheer Diva's Level 4 Sr. Co-ed routine -- I thought it was entertaining, and clean (nice work on the stunts). Just more observations.
lol first off i want to say congrats divas, keep up the good work......
I did 23 routines this year and my gyms routines were done last, people have more then one good idea lol...... Any way no one gets second or third rate routines from me...... Its what that certain team can handle.... I teach the routines its up to the coaches to make the magic happen.....
Yes the secret is out. Coaches from other programs sometimes tape teams that are in there division. Strong coaches do that, not to steal ideas, if your routine is not finalized yet you have bigger problems than stealing routines. But they do so to be able to look at the routine on video and say 'ok, are my teams up to par with what I just saw?' Honestly I think any coach that is not curious about what other programs have to offer is not doing their job to the fullest.
I know for sure that if I watched a level yesterday that my team competes in and teams had harder or higher skills then our teams then I would push my kids harder to get higher skills then my opponents. I am not going to just sit by and scratch my head and say ' Oh I wish I would of known that team X had full squad standing tucks and they are our main competitor' .
So I say this with pride, ' I am a cheer coach and I video other teams!'
Does anyone have wrote: Does anyone have the results? How did the Senior Level 4 team pan out. I have to say I was impressed by Pyramids program.
Can someone answer this question? You know it will be weeks before Jamz puts up results. I couldn't go and I want to know how everyone did their first time out.
you're kidding when you say Cheer Divas.. right!! they are so far off from Power that there is no comparison..thats my opionion..or did I miss something. Did they go to worlds last year? I think not. And why would you need to go out and hire another coach over 300 miles away to choreograph your routine. Sounds as though they feel they may have a chance to be number 1 in Norhtern Cal, but I think its slim to none. Sorry I've seen em....
