Large/Small

Just wondering what others think, I just noticed that Jamz doesn't separate small teams and large teams, they compete together. They do at Nationals, but not at regionals I guess. I think I saw this topic mentioned before, sorry if I'm repeating old news. Do you think it's fair for small teams that have to go against large teams? I've seen extreme cases of it (10 girls going against 25) and it always seems ridiculous.. I mean, how do you even judge that?

I think it's harder for small teams to go against large teams. But regionals do it so that there is more competition in each category. Otherwise you would have some teams going against nobody, or just one other team. You would think judges can see the difference and make adjustments in their scoring.

Technically, the requirements are the same, so there should be no difference. Scoresheets typically read: performed by the majority of the team with a high level of technique, etc. That would mean 6 - 7 kids from a 10 kid team would need to perform the elements AT THAT LEVEL, and about 20 or more for a 35 person team.

Small teams are typically from small gyms. Many times the team only has one or two level tumblers, not 6 or 7. If they put up three stunt groups but only one group performs to level, that is not the majority of the team. Many small gyms enter their teams a level too high. These are examples of how I've seen small teams tend to score lower. If a small team meets all the requirements, they should be neck and neck with a large team.
