There are plenty of gyms/teams that are in the same position before their first couple of competitions -- new kids, unforseen injuries. But they don't take the easier route and go exhibition, they compete. Why is it even an option? Our sport is just so bizarre sometimes.
I think the point is that cf is NOT scheduled to go to this comp. At the last minute Shawn just decided to get them out on a stage. Is that really so hard to understand? I appreciate that he won't set them up to fail. This board was a GREAT example of how mean folks can be about stuff like that after nor cal tanked in San Fran! Can't win for losing I guess! IF cf competes and does well, I sure hope to see some apologies!
I agree, why set yourselves up to fail? Why go to a competition where you're not ready? There are plenty of teams that competed early this season that were not ready and it literally ruined their reputation.
Honestly why do we want anyone to fail or lead to serious injury. Cheerleading is already under the microscope as it is, so why put kids out there that can get hurt. Alot of you talk about teams that go out there drop, then talk about teams that are to clean, then talk about the teams that are or aren't flashy enough. No matter what you do, people on this board just talk trash. You have to think what is best for the team and the program.
And I suppose other teams, including Califonria don't have injuries to contend with on Sunday? Yes they do but they will get it together and do their best. Not everything is always going to go as planned. The difference with this situtation and the one that happened in San Francisco is that "they" weren't ready...period. Not that an injury caused a stunt or two from going up, etc. Get real!!! Everyone understands an injury. Look at Encore at worlds. Now that is what you call getting it together. Also, look at Cali Sm Srs, they had a injury a week before Worlds. Some teams won't let a setback be an excuse. But with all that said, if a coach has taught the team that they can only win or compete when all things are going perfect; I wonder how many teams would ever compete. Food for thought.
If they were only expecting to do an exhibition this weekend anyway, what's the difference? They basically just changed the venue.
I actually wish they would compete, and win, so they could shut you all up. None of you are in any position to second-guess the judgment of another program's coach.
Have other teams ever used a competition as a showcase for parents and family? When I think of exhibitions, I think of college teams, or other teams who can't compete under the rules, but want to showcase their talent. I don't think of a gym using it to show us what they will soon have when they're ready, or to use it as a way to get the teams on stage to get over any first comp jitters, or use it as a way to show friends and family what they're been working on. This has nothing to do with CF by the way, these comments would be for any gym who would use a competition this way. I'm guessing parents and family don't mind being charged to watch their children "not compete". Or maybe this one is free. I'm looking forward to seeing CF compete, as that is what competitions are for.
Hey if they decide to compete or go exhibition instead it is their choice. They aren't backing down from anyone or they would have pulled from Vegas also. I'm pretty sure Shawn has his reasons for what he is doing. What is the point of actually competing if you don't think your team is ready for it. What if you don't have a comp before vegas and you need to get your kids on stage before that to let them get the feel of competing back in their systems. It's legal so why not do it. I wish I could travel out there to see them, but I'm just going to wait for vegas. I hope you guys do great and I just love how everyone hates you guys. There has to be a reason behind it. ;)
When they were announcing the scores things CA got a 95.5. I think it was a total of their top 5 teams average though. I'm not sure. I thought they scored teams rather high at this comp.
Sorry one more thing to add. I think Vegas will be the true teller of who is the best. All the great teams minus a few will be there. They will all be scored by the same judges and so forth. So untill then it's going to be nail biting close
The CF junior team was amazing they will be very hard to beat. I thought the CA small senior was okay but they definately need to step up the tumbling. I was disapointed with the CA small jr 5 the whole routine was just mediocore (sp) sorry. The CA lg junior team was very entertaining and the CA large coed was just not what I thought they should be considering all the guys they have. I actually liked last years routine better.
I second that, but you never know what may happen by vegas. I'm seeing Cf getting a bid paid or unpaid i just see them getting one. I haven't seen cheer athletics teams yet so I don't know which one, but then again a lto of times when a team loses they come back stronger then ever so ca all stars may just come back to get another bid from vegas. IT should be an interesting comp
When cheerforce jr's won the choreography award was it just for the junior division or was it overall. Because if it was overall then does that mean they scored higher then the lg senior coed level 5 ?
