Question for All Programs

What kind of teams (age division and level) is everyone competing this season?

I would like to hear back from all California teams but I'm most interested in Northern/Central CA.

Also, I'm interested to see who is in the Senior Coed Level 3 and the Small Junior Levels 4 and 5.

Thanks everyone :)

Many websites post their teams, and a few have posted their competition schedule (available to the public, not just members). But most I've seen that posted their teams did not post which level they are. Maybe it's too early to know for sure, since competitions haven't started yet.

Response to WHY

1. It is Sacramento NOT Rocklin

2. Large Senior 4 Sacramento not Small

3. Please read the mass email I sent out today.

Best of luck to everyone at their upcoming competitions. The competition season is almost here, yahooooo!!! I can't wait to see all of my friends.

That's exactly why some of us don't post stuff about our gym.. the info might be wrong, or not ready for prime time yet, or might come across as bragging. Then WE would also be the ones getting an email! Bottom line, be careful what you post .. like it or not what you say represents your entire gym.

Didn't we read somewhere on here that POWER isn't allowed to make posts? Hmmm.

That's why the owner is on here reminding his gym not to post.

Well websites are easy to update and take less than 5 minutes to do so. Saying the information may change or wrong is pretty lazy. All star programs are businesses, they should act accordingly. I run a program and keep information out all the time. Parents like it when they are informed, plus any perspective members.

what?

To Stupid, I think the post is referring to people coming on a message board and stating things that may not be fact. Two completely different issues.

I remember after a competition (don't remember which one) someone came on this message board and posted a list of results. They should have just posted a link to the competition's website that had the results, because the results they posted here were messed up (missing teams, teams finishing in the wrong order, etc...).

If someone is going to post information that is listed on someone's website, just point them to the website instead. That's one way to guarantee you have the facts correct.

You obviously DON'T do any website AT ALL cause everyone who DOES website upkeep is laughing at YOUR stupidity......

Get your facts straight before you make yourself look like a fool again.

And just cause YOU do it, doesn't mean its the "right" way to do things. So if you jump off a bridge, should we follow?

Actually I do them everyday, for cheerleading mainly. The bottom line is it's cheerleading. Most of the information stays the same. It doesn't take that much effort to update them. Thats my point. People who say it's time consuming need to assign it to someone who has MORE Time. Whats the point of having one if the information is old like 75% of gym sites. Most people have the internet and want to do research, so having all the information would be great. It's great for marketing your program. Again its called professionalism. Don't put one up if you can't maintain it. It's not stupid, its the bottom line.

I don't understand why you all think you're entitled to know everything about every other program out there. They aren't required to tell you a darn thing - leave them alone! Their competition schedule, teams, levels, etc, are of interest to those who pay them money, and they are not obligated to tell anyone else! I don't get why you all think you're so obligated to be all up in everyone else's business. Worry about yourselves!

I think it's all about the image you want to portray for your business (keeping in mind that's what it is, a business). Sure, nobody is obligated to say anything on their website; nobody is obligated to even have a website. But a gym that has a website that is up-to-date tells me it's organized, and maybe not likely to let things fall through the cracks. If I were interested in a gym and went to their website, and it had news that was months old, there would be warning flags for sure. A gym's website is the image they choose to portray to the rest of us. The more members, the stronger your gym. Not having a website, or not keeping one up-to-date states you don't care whether your gym grows or not, which is unfair to the members you DO have. A gym whose website is up-to-date, states their teams, and their competitions, in my mind says a LOT about that gym. Proudly our gym does just that.

This has turned into a thread about gym websites in general, which has nothing to do with someone coming on this message board and posting stuff they shouldn't. Nothing wrong with changing the subject, just wanted to point it out.

First of all star cheer gyms are businesses, not sideline teams. Every professional sports team, college team, all-star team(in other sports) display schedules, meeting times, news, and any other relevant information. It is only in all-star cheerleading that we must have non-informative websites, you have litterally BEG for the information from some gyms, and usually don't get a response until 2 days later. Now if you have that information at your fingertips then its much easier on the gym staff. I am not saying PUT everything out there, but any relevant information. Again don't put up a website with NOTHING on it, and expect good feedback or a huge tryout.

There is also the question of safety. You don't want every person on the internet to know the exact schedule of a large group of young girls. Many gyms give all of the relevant information to their customers, but have no interest in sharing this information with anyone else for a multitude of reasons.

Also, I don't believe for a second that "EVERY" professional or college sports team puts their practice schedule and meeting times on public display.

Also, how many gyms have you been to? If you are "begging" for this information from gyms that you are not associated with, then you certainly shouldn't expect them to be particularly forthcoming with their business' information.

There is also competitive advantage to be gained from learning exactly what competitions your competitors are going to, what divisions they are in, how many teams they have, etc. Few gyms are willing to share this with anyone who asks.

listing schedule

Date:

I don't think anyone said practice schedules were listed or should be listed, not sure where that came from. But if you think of any sport in high school, through the community center, whatever (little league, youth football...), their websites will list their games. We don't have games, we have competitions. It's nice when websites list them, and I think that was the point.
