Yea, us too. Take the time to get your routine right and do it safely. Last year it was earlier, and that first week in October we saw a lot of gyms with falls in routines (stunts and tumbling), including ours.
Even though the year starts in April, I think a lot of gyms start choreography in August. So, that doesn't give a lot of routine practice before competing in October.
Yes most do start choreography in August. Don't forget some gyms still except kids up until August. Especially the smaller gyms. Heck for that matter I know some of the bigger gyms are still recruiting kids. Also I think it's safer that when they go out on the floor for the first time they are truely ready. Less chance for injuries.
You never know. They may go. I have no clue and I can't see them going all the way up there for such a small comp, but it may just be a warm up, just get out there and perform.
Don't go to Great America. The comp SUCKS compared to what you are used to . You would win hands down and that's no arugument there, but it's a tiny comp at a tiny amusement park and it's a waste of money. The stage is small, hard and the seating is horrendous.
Seriously. You REALLY don't want to go. Plus, why go this early. You don't need to prove anything to anyone..... ESPECIALLY at a cheesy competition. It's like traveling 6 hours to go to Knotts and competing at their "western stage." See what I mean?????
Is the Great America comp outdoors or indoors somewhere? Outdoor competitions suck, they're awful. Too warm during the day, too cool at night. Add parking, and dealing with the crowd and you have two more reasons you might want to avoid this one. Seriously.

LOL, I guess I am the only one who enjoyed Great America. I always loved that competition and the park even more. I also love the fresh air as well.
If they are going to this comp I don't think they are going to prove anything. Last season they had one comp before vegas I believe. Since they hadn't competed a lot they did horrible in Vegas and didn't get a bid. I think they are going to this comp just to get the feel of competing again. It may be small but it is something.
Just a guess, but it looks like the San Francisco JAMfest event is the 1st one of the season (in Cali) that's on a spring floor & put on by a decent competition company.
Probably worth the drive compared to going to some local high school competition on a non-spring floor.
The point of competing isn't to go to a HUGE nationals, its just to get judged and be on the floor as a team. Teams who compete early know what to fix and can get their routines looking 100% by Nationals. They are used to being judged and can get a step ahead of the game. If you can do it this early, then keep it going. Jamfest is a FUN organization.
Lets not forget the power of BONDING! Traveling together as a team is a great experience and tends to bring the team closer. I think cf will use this comp as a practice comp as well as a bonding experience. It sure sounds like fun to me. San Fran is always a great place to go!
I know I hate going to comps where no one is at. Does anyone even know of ANY teams from up here that are going to this comp. It might just be like a practice in SF for Cheerforce.
