RE: Level 3

Just because YOU don't know doesn't mean the program and their parents don't know.

I don't get why everyone has to be up in everyone else's business all the time.

I don't think the post said competition schedules are unknown; I think everyone at their respective gyms knows what competitions they are going to. What the post said was, nobody is posting them for the world to see. I don't even think cheergyms has their comp schedule posted on their website that is open for everyone, or am I incorrect? I'll have to check again. I looked at a few earlier today and couldn't find any information, not even on calenders.

Nobody is "up in everyone else's business"; just wondering why gyms don't post them if everyone already knows. I'm sure there is a good reason, just wondering what it is. Sometimes gyms are accused of choosing competitions that have no competition; but how would a gym know that at the time they are making their schedules? And as we can all see, even when the schedules are set, we all still don't know who is going to what.

Now back to your regularly scheduled topic...

We don't post ours. Sometimes things change too. But our gym has had the schedule to the parents for almost a month now with the knowledge that it could change at any time. I'm not sure why it's not posted on the site. It is on our calendar on the members only part. But that's updated once a week with EVERYTHING, so maybe that's why it's not put on the other part of our site. It takes the webmaster HOURS each day to keep up with photos, updates, flyers, etc..... and for two seperate sites. Cheer and Dance.

yea, that is how many sites do it; info like that is for members only. But good question.. why?? It doesn't take any space or any special updates to post it (even if you had to update it because there was a change, it's just text, no big deal) Now I'm curious, I'll ask our gym why we haven't posted ours yet. I know we have people asking if we'll be at certain ones.

Some teams may be worried that other teams will cancel and there will be no competition. I know for a fact that happens, have seen it myself. Especially around home with a "not texas" state, lol

Just wondering

Date:

Sometimes we are just wondering because we want to see certain teams. All Star gyms try to come off as "businesses", professional, or any other catch phrase, but what other sport does NOT post their schedule for public viewing. Although the gyms are large with members, its still a small mind mentality. Rather you go to NCA nationals or American Cheer power, people are going to choose their competitions based off their own needs and wants, not your rivals. I hardly doubt a team like Nor Cal is going to base its schedule around Club Spirit Rockets. Those were just examples. People are just very small minded.

I do agree with you Just Wondering. Our thoughts are that we don't want people cancelling because we are going to a particular competition. Not because our gym is all that great but because we are a large gym. Plus, once our schedule is posted and we change something, it could turn negative in the eyes of another gym. People are small minded. You are so right.

I think its more of a matter of what level they are competing at. Teams should know where they are competing, but the level that they are in can change.

I agree with that, I think teams by now do know what competitions they will be attending. But the levels are still up in the air. We have cancelled competitions in the past because of very poor attendance (who wants to pay and travel to go against one other team, or to go against nobody). So I can see that side of it, why competition schedules may not be posted on gym websites. This is always a problem when you have too many to choose from. I'm happy that our gym has chosen well known, typically very well attended competitions (American Championship in Anaheim, for example, where you typically find the best in California competing against each other). So the chances of not going against anyone are very slim, especially with the change in divisions this year (no Jr. Prep or Sr. Prep divisions).

I do understand new gyms or small gyms choosing competitions that are not that well known or well attended, to give their new teams some confidence. However, I would rather see our state move towards fewer, higher quality competitions. Sure, your teams may take first at some no name comp, but what does it mean? You learn more from losing to better teams than winning against nobody.
