i like when the whole team wakes up late and just throws a ribbon around their head like a bandana and hopes for the best. haven't seen it yet but im pulling for someone to this year.
What about for the little ones? I still like the souble pony tails with big bows. (ah I miss the days) for youth, Jr, and Sr I also like the half up half down side bangs with a big solid bow
My daughter joined a new gym this year and she is very happy there. The only problem is they want the girls to wear thier hair in Cheer curls. I hate the tight little curls. They are a pain. I almost said no to this gym for this reason. Do any other parents hate them....
I don't like bangs period. Bangs were not meant for cheerleading, although Cheer Athletics do it, I hope its not a trend but many cheerleaders will say they "won worlds" so they will do it. It's funny because their younger teams are cleaner looking than their older teams, far as apperance.
Personally I like high pony tail curly, with loose curls with a nice 2 inch bow. I think its tradtional and cute. Half up half down curly with loose curls is cute.
I don't like straight pony tails either. Looks pretty lazy, like a cheer practice. If your going to compete, at least put some time and effort into your apperance. For that mom who said they don't want to curl their hair and would quit over that, then that is pretty sad. You only compete 7-9 times a year, out of 52 weekends a year, im sure its not that bad. LOL
i know i love bangs... and so does the rest of my team, not my coach too bad lol... but the judges could care less about how the hair looks as long as everyone wears it the same on the team... =[

Hair is not on the scoresheet, but believe me judges talk about what they like and what they don't ALL the time. Thats one reason why I like USA because they look for uniformity and actually suggest specific things to make your overall apperance neater and more groomed. I think the more cheer becomes athletic, the more some teams just focus on that 1 aspect. It is athletic, but it is still a performance activity. If you don't want an activity so focused on apperance/performance than join soccer.
As a mom who has had to deal with having to doing her childs hair in the foam rollers the night before a competition I agree I hate cheer curls. The complaints about there too tight, they hurt, I hate that sticky hair spray. It's enough to know I don't want to go thru that again. I like the high straight pony tails with the poof as you call it. But I'll do whatever... Now don't get me started on the cheer curl wigs. They are a nightmare. Sewing a fake piece of nylon on top of a childs head what fun. I've see kids in tears cause they hate them.
I like the curls, but my daughter is little. It really isn't a big deal to her. She has to have 200 rollers in her hair and I just use perm papers to protect her hair. Her squad did it all last season. My husband said her rollers make her look like a new age Princess Leia (sp?) Her hair is long to her waist and it takes me about an hour to put up and 10 min to unroll in the morning. As long as the bows are tight and don't fly off all hair styles are good to me!
I think part of the problem is alot of parents don't know how to do their kids hair and make up. I know people are laughing but the majority of parents don't know how to roll the hair right. They put like little strands in each roller. I have sat in rooms with girls and they roll it in like 5 ,maybe 10 minutes even with long thick hair. Also the make up thing as well.
