RE: CUTE UNiFORMS

I don't like some teams uniforms, but I wouldn't call them horrific. I also think that if people don't watch it Danny will shut down this board because people are on past insulting they are just rude.

My daughters and I have been discussing them joining an allstar cheer program these past few months but I do not want them to wear a crop top uniforms. I think they are taste less and honestly there is no reason to have them. I'm glad there isn't a lot of teams in Northern California that have crops tops.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there are plenty of organizations/teams that have crop tops in Northern CA, and ones that didn't in the past are also starting to, although some are limiting them to their older teams. Tasteless? No. No reason to have them? Many would disagree. Hope you don't base your decision to let your daughters cheer based on that because it would be a shame.

Ok, so here's my dilema. As a parent, I love the crops. They look nice so long as the kid isn't too too heavy in them. I also allow my daughter to wear shorts. I know it shows her legs but it's hot out sometimes. I let my daughter wear tank tops. Yes, her shoulders show, but that isn't going to get her pregnant. When she swims, she wears a bathing suit. I know, I know.... I am a horrible parent, but she hates wearing jeans in the water. Something about being too heavy to swim in, who knows.

Yes, I am being sarcastic here. Not rude or mean, but sarcastic, hoping to make a point. A crop top isn't going to make your daughter a hooker. Wearing a skirt isn't going to make her get pregnant. Is anyone getting the picture? She wears her uniform to a cheer competition where there are hundreds of other cheer girls and guys. She's not walking down Hollywood Blvd or First St. in it. There's a huge difference. HUGE.

It was once illegal for women to show their legs in public. And yet now the kids show almost everything else and the teen pregnancy rate has fallen significantly in the past few years. Wanna know the difference here? Education and awareness.

I guess we should also be educating the adults here also.

PS I am 45 years old with teenagers. And mine are doing just fine so far. Please allow your child to enjoy their (pre)teen years and educate them. Don't make them miss out on something sooooooo wonderful JUST because you don't want someone seeing their tummy.

And seriously I am NOT trying to be mean to the mom who doesn't agree. You are a WONDERFUL parent who loves her child. That is what this world needs more of. I just would hate for your child to miss out on something that would change her life for the better. It really really would. Cheer is the best sport I could have put my child in. All Stars just makes it times 100.

New Uniforms....

This ts the first year my daughter will be wearing the crop top. We joined a new gym and I admit I had my reservations. But after seeing the design and the fit of the uniforms I find I like them. The tops come down a bit more on the stomach and the skirt fits on the waist except for a small V in the front. I think they are going to look great.

It's not WHAT you're wearing, it's HOW you wear it. there is nothing wrong with crop tops and skirts.

The problem is when the girls wear the skirt unzipped, pulled up so their butt is hanging out, cell phone clipped on the side, chewing gum, hair down, flip flops on or barefoot, jewlery scattered about, hanging on their boyfriend.

Don't act like you all haven't seen this girl. She's at every competition. cheergyms.com kids may look like "youth fooball cheerleaders" or "star trek" characters or whatever you all think.......but they dont look like the girl described above.

There is one in every group. Please don't think that there isn't. I recall a few years back, Pyramids Srs had a dance that was way over the top. Buttie shaken and butts flapping like I have never seen before or since. I remember all the comments on this board about that and how defensive everyone was about it. They thought it was just fine. Even my 18 year old daughter was agast! Now the flack is about crop tops. I think that I would much rather see girls in crop tops, tastfully done of course, than to witness buttie cheeks flapping together up on a stage. I don't get it people, you talk out of both sides of your face. Get off of the high horse. Crop tops tastfully done is not a bad thing. If cheergyms.com decides not to wear them than fine, but don't lable those who do. Like I said, there is one in every group and I saw at least three in yours that day at Spirit Sports and USA. The only difference was theirs was chorg'd. Yuck!

I SO agree! I remember when I was in school (a hundred years ago. You represented your school or team 24/7 in you actions, appearence, etc. Some of the girls need to "clean it up" a bit.

My daughter use to be part of Cheergyms. We are now at a new gym that has crop tops. I had my reservations also, but I think thier uniforms are very tasteful and I've changed my mind. As far as the post above I think your using this topic to just be negative. Our experience with this organization was wonderful. The girls were taught that how you represent the gym was just as important as how you performed. Also I've never seen a routine where thier "BUTTIE CHEEKS" were FLAPPING together on stage (LOL).... This is definitely not the Cheergyms style I'm familiar with.... I wish the poster would be brave enough to sign thier name, or state what organization they are from. I don't know how old you are or if your indeed a parent or not, but you need to chill out. Danny you have a wonderful organization and have every reason to be proud..... Live long and Prosper!!!!!!

I posted my name once and got in trouble from others on here for doing so. Maybe that's why they didn't post it...

Yes, every single gym has one. It's how the directors/owners/coaches handle them.

Crops are great. We were from cheergyms and now wear crops. My daughter couldn't be happier. I think the makeup is a bit much, but at least you can't see it on the stage, so it's fine. We all have our opinion and of course you can't please everyone. But at least the good gyms take all of this into consideration.

We HAD one of those girls in our gym. And believe me, all of us were horrified also. But that only happened once and it was stopped. I was so embarrassed too. After "the talk" she zipped up and covered up REAL QUICK.

Signing my name in hopes that no one gets mad...

I know what they are talking about

and I am a parent. My daughter cheered at the West Coast Mavericks at that time. It was about 4 yrs ago now. I believe 2003/2004. Yes, it most definately was the Pyramids allgirl squad. It was a senior squad and I believe it was mainly the 3 girls in the front. I could discribe them further but I don't think it is neccessary. The girls in the back of them did something different but I couldn't take my eyes of the 3 in front. It was gross, Gross GROSS! Given that the stage at Spirit Sports was high, you could see everything! And boy did they know it. They worked that part of the dance like there was no tomorrow. I couldn't believe it. In fact, I considered going up to Morton at the Marriott hotel. I saw him and several parents/cheerleaders there, we all stayed at the same hotel, but I reconsidered. What good would it had done. I too read the comments on the board back then and Really? was correct. The pyamid folks didn't see an issue. Then, yes to my disbelief; they did it again at USA. Oh yes they did! This time, you knew it was coming, the parents and supporters really got into it with anticipation. I had seen it all. I truly had. It happened, ask Morton. I'm sure he remembers that dance. Further, what is this about being brave? It happened and 100s of people saw it. No one has to state who they are and what org. they are from to post about an event that they witnessed. It happened, I also saw it and was disturbed by it and thought that it was extremely inappropriate. I recall that someone wrote that they thought that they were in a nightclub and not at a cheerleading competition and I could not have agreed with them more. Signed by parent of an ex-allstar cheerleader, allstar coach and NCA college national champion, 3xs. I've been around for years and I will never forget that dance, for all of the wrong reasons though.

Sorry to say, it did happen. I am 51 years old, soon to be 52. I am a parent of a college cheerleader who was an allstar cheerleader at that competition. Maybe that gives me some credibility, but I don't need to prove anything. I'm just stating what was. That dance was something that I didn't expect to see from Pyramids. I wouln't except to see it at any cheerleading competition. Pyramids were fairly conservative in their routines and so to see that dance was shocking. I guess that it's why it's hard to believe that Cheergyms.com is discussing crop tops. Considering that fact that they allowed those girls to shake it like a polorid picture; I would think that wearing a g-string would be the topic not a crop top. I don't mean to be mean but honestly!! All I can say is maybe the parents that had daughters on that team are gone. It has been a few years. I know mine is now in college but she isn't doing dances like that on the mat. Not the cheerleading mat anyway:) Good Lord, I hope not!

posting gym names

Date:

I don't think anyone is saying don't post your gym name, what they're saying is be aware of the consequences when you do (be it boasting about your gym, or unfavorable comments about another gym). Either way, people see the gym name associated with the post, even though it's just one member's opinion. So when others say "why don't you give your gym name", for most of us, it ain't gonna happen.

But back on topic, what I was going to say about Danny's post is that yes, how you present yourself off the mat is important, I agree completely. But what you put on the mat, your performance, that is what is remembered, that is what is most important. So kind of surprising to hear they had a routine that left such a bad impression. But it was okay because they looked wholesome off the mat?

Goodness how did an innocent post about cute uniforms turn into another lets bash cheergyms. If it's not cheergyms it's another gym getting raked over the coals. Lately it's even turned into personal attacks on individuals. I really think that the Anonymous Board needs to be shut down. I'm just so tired of the bashing.... It's gotten so bad that I don't want my child reading these posts. It's really sad when I try to teach her sportsmanship and good manners and it's the Adults that behave so badly. Please everyone stop. Enough is enough already.

Yea, this always happens when someone makes an observation or states an opinion and someone else thinks it's bashing cheergyms. Someone always comes on here and asks that the board be shut down. I think most of us know how to use it responsibly. To "here we go again", why can't YOU?

I didn't see the routine they're talking about, but I've seen other routines that I find somewhat offensive, and that to me is far worse than someone walking around chewing gum in flip flops.

Other gyms have been "bashed" in this thread as well as my own, and I don't hear them (or us) getting all defensive and "close the anonymous board" on everyone. Grow some thicker skin, people...sheesh!

The bottom line is, you can name ANY gym anywhere and there are going to be groups of people from a couple of other gyms nearby who will start up on the bashing. I know exactly what gyms posters are from when they start talking smack about my gym - it's not rocket science and I know who our rivals are! You guys all act like it's the world out to get you when someone says something negative, but guess what - it's probably the same 5 people over and over again. You are NOT that important! I'm surprised we could fit more than 5 people on this board, what with all the ego!!

True, you don't want dull and boring. But you also don't want to look like circus performers. Somewhere in-between is perfect, where your uniforms liven up your performance without distracting from it.

Speaking of 'circus performers', did anyone see the CheerEmpire College team uni's? They literally looked like a bunch of clowns ! lol Anyway, I don't know how judges can focus on the routines when they are distracted by what a team is wearing. Or maybe it's done intentionally, so they don't see they mistakes in the routine! (That was a joke, so people don't get all worked up!!)

I have never seen a board like this. I find it humurous how so many people fight over nothing. Everyone has their opinions. Every brain works differently. Now when someone doesn't agree with what you think you get all defensive about it. Let them think what they think. Think what you want to think. Don't rip someones throat out because they have a different opinion about something then you. Simply state your opinion about it and leave it at that. You don't need to be saying negative things about how people feel.
