I am suprised you haven't figured it out yet, last year you were a great source of info to this message board. I think this year will be most interesting!
Just counted up all the bids. It's a ___lot I counted 43 paid bids, 17 partially paid bids, get this 105 that's right ONE HUNDRED FIVE at large bids and 54 international at large bids. There you have it. I hope I counted right. That isn't counting the dance bids. My head was spinning when I got done.

Oh jee sorry I guess no1 ever has bad days right....you've NEVER made a mistake at competition right? WOW

I'm trying not to be so obsessed with cheer but not sure how successful I'll be. I'm still very interested in Worlds and what it represents. Being able to see the best of the best and the battles that ensue on the mat over the season is a fun source on entertainment.
So, not sure I'll be a good source for info this season. But I have to say the USASF web site is much better and looks like we will be able to get more info at a glance instead of having to dig for it.
Good luck to all the Level 5 teams out there. And I'm very interested in the Int'l Jr level to see what gyms go for the Gold.
There are way too many bids offered this year. If each team accepted its bid, there would be an average of 41 teams per division. Hardly cream of the crop. When was the last time you saw 41 teams in a division (level 5) at a regular "National" competition? This is getting out of hand. I'm assuming this is all about money. If that is the case, then they might as well open it up like NLCC's Final Destination to all divisions...from your mini level 1 to your open level 6 teams. Seems to be where we're headed anyway. Too bad. Worlds has definitely lost its prestige to me.
I would like to see them get rid of the "Unpaid" bids. History has shown many teams receiving unpaid bids don't go anyway. We would still have 60 teams. To me that makes more sense.
Of course there are those rare situations that a team that had an unpaid bid made it in the top 3 finals. But I don't see that happening often since there are lots more paid and partial paid bids to go for.
They should only allow about ten teams in each division. Give away all the bids they want just weed them out and allow the ten best to go to finals. People don't need to go to prelims, so just weed out the people who should not be there.
Have they done anything at all regarding the issue of giving the 2nd place or 3rd place teams the bids if the winners already have paid bids? I remember that was a big issue last year. Is it going to be the case again this year, where a 2nd place team can get a fully paid bid? My guess is that it's up to the competition companies to decide, am I correct?
What I'm hoping is that if you have a competition company that is only giving a fully paid bid to one or two level 5 divisions, if teams in those divisions win but already have paid bids, the paid bid goes to ANOTHER level 5 division, and not the 2nd or 3rd place teams in those same divisions. That's the issue we all wanted to see changed from last year, but has anyone heard if anything was done?
Yea, you've got to get rid of those teams like Cheer Athletics Small Senior that didn't get a paid bid. They really stunk up the place, huh. By the way, you could get rid of the two international winners while you are at it. I guess only half of the 6 World Champions should have been there.
But this year there are lots more bids to be had. Therefore, I see these top teams getting paid bids. The more paid bids they offer, get rid of the unpaid.

I'm pretty sure they could easilly get paid bids if they wanted.
I think too many bids to Worlds will allow teams to be at Worlds that in no way deserve to be there. The compitition will become watered down and going to Worlds will be no big deal eventhough you will still have the top teams in the US there. I guess what I'm trying to say is right now if I say we went to Worlds last year people really respect that but if tons of teams go then it will not become respectable- but of course if you say we won at Worlds you will get tons of respect regardless. I would rather have let say 10 top teams in each division total not 40 teams in your division- that's terrible- Hope this makes sense-
Like I said earlier I think finals should have ten in each division at most. I don't care how many people get bids as long as they get weaded out in pre lims.
But to get a bid and say you went to Worlds is great but not if every team in your area get's a bid becuase they give out so many- then it becomes no big deal-
If they allow more teams to attend, it means more money for the company also. They won't stop handing out bids if it means more money. But that's ok. That's more teams to enjoy the trip.
Too many bids given out and Worlds just becomes another blown up Nationals- Oh well - Lets see how it works out this year but I would bet you will see teams get bids and you will shake your head and say that team is weak- Watered down compitition- I understand more teams makes more money but Worlds will never be the same!!!
