No to paying extra for sections of seats; those with extra money to spend can take up sections and leave those of us who are just trying to make ends meet with the basics of cheerleading to sit who knows where? No thanks. Let us thrifty folks get up early if we want good seats. It's free.
I just want to say that I think it's great that POWER uses those Thundersticks! The towels are nicer to the ears, but come on! This is a CHEER competition. Bring ear plugs as I have done if the noise bothers you. I know when my daughter is ready to go on stage and her team hears the parents chanting and ringing the "Cow Bells", this gets them pumped up and more excited and it shows on the cheerleaders faces! We were on another team two seasons ago, and the Gym did not encourage the parents to sit together. Parents spread out all over. So her team couldn't hear the chants from the parents. It was very disapointing to the team. I think I know what they felt when they could hear chants for their competitors teams. When we were at Worlds this year, POWER used their Thundersticks for every Calif team who competed.......I was impressed.... WOW!!...thanks POWER!!!!!!! I do have to admit tho, when someone is blasting an air horn behind me, that can get very annoying, especially when there is no warning. At least warn me so I can plug my ears! Oh, I was also on a parent team. Before we went on stage, we could hear our cheer leaders chanting for us old foggies!! It really pumped us up. The whole experience was great!
It wasn't just Power, it was also, Cheergyms.com with the red thundersticks. I saw the owner of Power passing them out to the Cheergyms.com parents at finals. I thought that was a bit odd; passing them out to only the "Nor Cal" people. But after reading this board for a while, it seems that the Northern Califonria folks have something to prove. I had read previously that the teams in California were getting a shirt together and I only saw it on the teams from Northern California, i.e. Power and Cheergyms.com. Interesting. Also, not all of the people with those thundersticks where beating them for all of the California teams. I found that interesting also. Expecially after the big to do about the unity shown at GSSA. When it all was said and done, that unity that yall talked so much about went straight to the Northern California teams. However, I wasn't there to see the support for Cheerforce so I can't speak to that, as for the other Calif teams; those red sticks where few and far between. I wasn't impressed.
I believe the post was about Power and Cheergyms.com. They clearly said that they saw the owner give the sticks to those teams. Also, the post said that they didn't see the Cheerforce team so they couldn't talk about that. But it was clear to me that they were not impressed about the support that the above teams (power and cheergyms) gave to anyone else in California except the Northern California people. And it is also clear to me that YOU need to read before you post!! Wow!
No I am not I just find it interesting that people are still trying to stir up crap between North and South The shirt issue was already addressed and no one communicated to Shawn about the shirts. There was plenty of support for Cheerforce. I was there
When did this turn into a support issue for Cheerforce. I think it was said that the Northern Cal. teams were lacking in the much talked about support for the OTHER california teams and I know more than just Cheerforce were representing. I agree with this because I went and found it funny that Cheergyms and Power seemed to be buddy buddies and I was surprized that the energy that was put in to supporting each others teams were not done for the other "Cali" teams. I read somewhere, maybe here from the Power coach, that they and Cheergyms are going to be sitting on the left and right side of the arenas at comps to cheer their teams on or something to that effect. But as for all of the nice words on this board about the overall support, it didn't happen. Really it didn't and those people know it. But frankly, I don't think the other California teams cared, but at least don't make it into something that it wasn't. The only love feast that was there was between Power and Cheergyms.com. Anything other than that was just the obligatory clapping.
I can understand POWER and Cheergyms supporting each other, and supposingly supporting the other California teams at Worlds. That makes sense to me. But here in CA for the regional competitions, I guess it's just me being used to other sports, but I don't get the whole we'll sit on one side, they'll sit on the other, and they'll yell and clap for each other thing. When you go to a high school football game, you don't see the fans on the other side clapping and yelling for the opposing team. Maybe it's a business thing? Strength in numbers? Maybe it's that the owners are good buddies. But this is a sport, we're competing against each other. They want to promote this one big happy family atmosphere I guess, but just between the two of them. When they start cheering on the smaller gyms in Nor Cal with the same enthusiasm, then maybe I'll believe it's all about good sportsmanship.

Yeah, I don't think this idea INTENDED to come across as "well support each other, but not you"...but that's how it came across on paper.
I think the better question is - should we really have to ORGANIZE to support one another? Why can't we all just be good sports and do it from wherever we are in the venue? Some of the best displays of sportsmanship that I see take place in the warmup room, between the teams themselves with no input from coaches, owners, or parents. We shouldn't have to put on a "show" of good sportsmanship - we should all just do it.
Completely agree with you there California Coach. I've seen great displays of sportsmanship from the girls/guys themselves, without the coaches/owners telling them "you will cheer for ". And it was in the warmup area, as you mentioned. That's when it really counts (when it's impromptu from the kids), unchoreographed.
I have to agree on that one. But being supportive of one another comes from HOME. Home = gym, family, friends. This is a LEARNED thing. AS adults, coaches and parents, we need to lead by example, not by demand.

Well, I must have been dreaming. I was sitting front and center watching CF compete on the floor, I know I saw those red thundersticks banging together in support of CF. Did I misunderstand that POWER, Cheergyms.com were beating thier thundersticks for the team (CF) that was on the floor?? Was it just a coincidence? I don't think so.......Sigh....Oh well!
Didn't they say that they didn't see the Cheerforce team so they didn't know about the support shown for them? Gosh, what are you reading? I thingkthe jest of what they said was that the general support, banging the red sticks with ferver, happened for Power and Cheergyms and not for the other California teams (So Cal). REMEMBER they didn't see Cheerforce compete. I did but I really didn't notice the stick things. Someone else said that the comment wasn't about support of Cheerforce, but rather the support of ALL of the California teams since so much was posted about the big support that was shown. So, answer this since so much has been written, perhaps by the good people from Power and Cheergyms.com and a few other people who were there, where was the major banging of those sticks for West Coast Mavs, Cali Allstars, American and Magic, etc? I agree, I don't think anyone from Southern California really gave a flip. I didn't notice a lack of support for any of those teams, in fact, I saw other teams supporting them. So put up or shut up and get over the "but we supported Cheerforce" thing. I see Power's coach gave them sticks also or did they show up with those red sticks . I would guess that this support thing between the 2 nor cal teams was; you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours and Cheerforce was brought into the mix for extra support. Cuz it was all about Power and Cheergyms.com. It looked very odd. We knew about the teams from California and expected a show of support after reading all of the comments about shirts, GSSA, etc. but what I saw was this odd chorg. effort to get crowd appeal points and it seemed weird. I think it would have come off much better if it had been the California support thing rather than a "let's get together and pull for each other" type of thing that it was.
I guess we weren't at the same competition because i saw the red bangers banging for ALL the California teams. There may have been a bit more support amongst Power, Cheergyms and Cheerforce because of the GSSA thing but I even remember on the ESPN broadcast that there was a mention of the "states" supporting each other.
The support with the thundersticks was there for all. Maybe a little more for Power and Cheer Gyms, but still they were banging those things together for everyone.
I think I said it best when I said it was the obligatory clapping that was given to the other california teams. Get real people. You know it, I saw it and it was obvious that all of the GSSA talking that was on this board was just that talk except for the POWER and Cheergym's.com united front. BTW, when did those two gyms become mates anyway? I remember seeing them at a competition once and they weren't all up under each other so what happened? Oh yea, it was the Nor-Cal thing right? Now I get it.
Cali Support, the question was about the support that people here where saying Power was giving to all of the California teams and how impressed they were with that. Not what the ESPN2 announcer said about other States showing support. I think most everyone clapped for other teams. I know, I do when I'm not taping or something. But that isn't what this is about. What has been said here in essence is that POWER beat the sticks and showed impressive support for the teams in Califonria. When, in fact, they did for Cheergyms.com and Cheerforce and Cheergyms.com did the same. And continuing with the support, people with Cheergyms.com are on here saying that it isn't true...we supported Cheerforece too etc.
