Wouldn't it be cool if competitions allowed you to purchase sections, kind of like concerts? leave the best ones open, first come first serve. But sell sections to gyms who need tons of seats. For a real small fee of course, but shoot, i would pay a couple of bucks to have a seat when I get there!!!!
No not cool. After paying for transportation, sometimes lodging, parking, admission fees, cheer fees, if someone told me I had to pay for seating we would quit.
You would QUIT if someone offered you a way to have a seat? I wasn't saying that you HAD to buy it. But to make your kid quit because you got offered a way to have a seat with your entire gym..... wow. Not too into cheer, huh?
Hey cool lighten up. First off I can tell your not a parent because your probally clueless of the the actual cost of being involved in cheer. Excuse me for making a comment that you don't like. I was joking, but posters like you make me so angry. Grow up please....
I would do it too. And I'm not a kid and know the cost of having their child do both All Stars and High School at the same time. It would be worth not buying that hot dog or something.
I think that would be great. First of all I am a parent. Second I pay admission to every comp we go to and would love to have a asigned seat. ( like at a hockey game, baseball etc. ) You pay admisson anyway and that's supposed to include a seat. I can't tell you how many times I've had to stand to get a decent view. This really has nothing do with all the other expenses cause if you go to most comps you have to pay to get in. To not cool so your saying you don't go to your kids comps and pay to get in and watch? Cool was not saying at least I don't think they were saying on top of admission paying extra to get a seat. If I'm reading correctly I think they are saying if your planning on attending the comp with your cheerleader wouldn't it be great to by a section of seats and everyone could sit together and have a guarnteed seat.
Not Cool was saying no to paying extra for seating. The competition companies charge you for admission. Seating is get it if you can. Now if they did assigned seating wonderful. I each gym had a specific area even better. But how much would you bet people wouldn't be happy with that either. I agree I would not pay extra. I agree you get to a point were your pockets just are not deep enough.
Well I thank you for talking about our BANGERS sooooo much, actually they are here for one more year, but we are also adding a little something something to our arsenal for our spectators and parents, LOL. If you are going to be at any comeptitions with us, we will be sitting on the right side of every competition. So if you are looking at the cheer floor we will be on the right side and if you are part of cheergyms.com, they will be on the left side. We look forward to a great competition season this year, and are very excited about seeing all of our cheer friends at the competitions. We miss you all, the off-season is going by really slow.
Ok, first off, thanks for sticking up for me. I was only thinking out loud basically and not really sayig "HEY we should DO THIS." It was one of those, "what if" things.
Secondly, I was thinking and saying, leave the admission fees alone. Nothing extra, but if a GYM wanted to put forward some cash to have their entire GYM sit together, then that would be cool too. Gyms who have many many parents find it hard to get their parents in the same general area cause there are too many people. It was only a THOUGHT..... that's it. I didn'tmean to start a World War here.
Trust me, I know how much it costs to do this sport. But I will do whatever it takes for my child to keep doing what she loves the most. And if that means an extra 2 or 3 dollars in order to sit with the other parents so my child can see and hear us, then I will do that. I wouldn't even DREAM of making her quit over something so trivial.
I feel bad for the parents who come late and can't find a seat. It's rough getting out of bed later than everyone else. I will be thinking of you as I am resting in my seat, saving 4 seats for my friends, eating a leasurely breakfast with my child after having 4 or 5 hours of sleep so I could get everything ready and everyone up and out of the house on time. But we won't be stressed or forced into a corner. We planned ahead. Sorry Charlie. Sympathy went right out my window at 4 am while I was curling hair for my daughter who competes at 8 pm.
I feel your pain, Cool. It's all good when you are at the venue, but the kids tend to forget all the steps it takes to GET there. You recieve my vote also!!!
OK here is my suggestion for all spectators getting a seat.
1) I think it OK to save a couple of seats but not an entire section. If all of those people you are saving seats for want a good seat they can get up at 4AM like the rest of us parents who are paranoid about not getting a good seat.
2) DO NOT let the cheerleaders save seats for themselves or sit in the spectator section unless it is off to the side. The cheerleaders paid to compete, not watch. I know sometimes it is fun for them to watch the people they are competing against but they can stand for a few minutes to do that. I HATE it when an entire cheer team comes in throws their bags and jackets all around and then disappears for the entire day. However the parents sitting in that section will rip your head off before they allow anyone to sit there even though the kids never sit there and the seats hold nothing but the bags and jackets all day, meanwhile people who paid to be spectators are forced to stand. Not Cool!
Amen to #2!!! I think gyms should be fined by the competition companies if their cheerleaders take up the best seats in the house to hold all of their stuff while they are off walking around or with their team the whole day and we have to sit behind or off to the side of their stuff. I know our gym makes our girls (and guys) sit off to the side of the stage and up in the upper rows so that they are not taking up seats that parents and spectators will want. It is just common courtesy. I know some parents will not like this view and will say they want their kids sitting with them in front and center. But reality is, unless they are on a mini or tiny team, they need to stay with their team and their coach. Gyms need to make this mandatory for their program. Many already do, it is the few that spoil it for the many.
