Thankfully, my daughter is going to private school so this year we have a uniform and have already got it done... However, her favs are Abercrombie, Hollister and American Eagle. I usually give her a budget and then anything over that she has to use her own money.
I also have an opinion on this topic, hehe...Personaly, I'm not a girl, but I think American Eagle is the most genuine out of the three stores (AE, Abercrobie, and Hollister), not as "preppy". If preppy is what your looking for, Hollister and Abercrombie is the way to go, I must admit though, Abercrombie & Fitch makes a mean pair of destroyed jeans...but thats only if you have the $$ for those 2 stores, whenever I shop at Abercrombie, I'm at the clearance rack...
Some other stores I might recomend are Forever 21, Wet Seal...maybe I should stop :]
Nordstrom is an excellant source for basics - as in simple tees and tanks that can be layered, therefore serve as a double use for both warm and cold weathers. The anniversary sale is also coming up (July 14th - July 30th), where you can find the hottest Fall trends out and ON SALE - I know its weird, a sale before the season even begins!
American Eagle is another favorite of mine, their jeans are super comfy, definitely not as expensive as the Hollister/A+F equivalent (definitely a bonus for parents!) and last a long time. There shirts are moderately priced and their sales are even better!
I must admit that before my Nordy and AE days, I was a AF and Hollister fanatic, but once my parents made me work for my money and got me into paying for my own things, I truly learned the value of the dollar. Paying $30 for a super sheer top just didn't make sense anymore, especially when I now know that I can find stuff pretty similar at Nordstrom, in even more colors, and at 1/3 of the cost.
Well I wear my AP shirts like two out of the five school days. Haha!! I love to rep my team, but other than that i like American Eagle and Pac Sun!! :) Oh ..and A&F hoodies are the best.
$$$ wrote: So are you saying its cheaper to buy stylish clothes from nordstroms vs hollister. And the sale starts July 14 . Is that for So Cal too.
Well $$$, I'm saying that Nordstrom is usually known to have higher prices than most department stores, however, I feel that they are lower compared to that of A+F and Hollister, and exceptionally higher in quality (it'll last through more loads of laundry than your sheer tee), however, as a consumer you have to understand that the style of each store is different.
If you like what Hollister and A+F have to offer and willing to pay the price, than by all means, go there and make yourself happy, but if you don't care about having a moose on your jean pocket, or the Hollister bird on your shirt, head on over to Nordstrom. I know that for the anniversary sale, they'll be offering lots of different coats and jackets at good prices, not to mention basics, jeans, cute accessories and other fun stuff.
Sale starts 7 am on Friday, July 14th, at all Nordstrom locations, it ends on Sunday, July 30th. The earlier you come, the better stuff you can get, because once its gone, its gone, and if it comes back, they'll be charging you full price.
Thank goodness my daughter's HS has uniforms. ctually she has worn a uniform her enitre school careeer from Kindergarden on. However my two cents is that my daughter loves Kohl's they have nice cholthes and very good sales. Also she shops at Charlette Rouse (sp), American Eagle, Aeropostle and of course Le Target can at times have really nice things. I went for the first time w/ her to A&F and I couldn't believe how nice and also how expensive those clothes were.
Kohls is good on pricing. A+F is way too expensive for clothes that look older than me. Thank goodness my daughter sews too cause she takes in clothes and makes them look like they were sewn just for her. No one knows she doesn't pay a ton for her clothes and always gives her compliments on how she dresses. If they only knew!!! hehehehehehehe
H&M in SF is a great investment if your daughter is wanting some European style at Target prices. I just got back from Europe and H&Ms were everywhere. Check it out everyone!
wow the shopping at nordstroms sucked!! but then i went to hollister and got some really cute stuff!!! whats funny is there was no one in hollister cuz of the sale at nordstroms. i feel that i got the better deal.
