Agree, originality is key, and even though nobody can tell you what name to use or not use, it's usually not a good thing for someone to confuse you with ANY team, good or bad.
But they usually go by NCP Thunderbolts, I remember seeing them at at least one competition we've attended, and that name is certainly unique enough. There is only the possibility of confusion when someone asks what the initials stand for, like in this thread.
It's hard to come up with unique names these days, since there are soooo many teams out there. I was trying the other day, and I couldn't think of anything good that hasn't already been taken, or that doesn't sound too close to others. I think cheergyms does a great job coming up with unique names (and cute symbols).
First off, I am from POWER and I do not see what the big deal is. No one at POWER has any problem with it. NCP is what they go by and it does not seem to be a big deal. Heck we changed our name from Power Cheer to just POWER because their were so many Power Cheers on the east coast. Good luck to NCP this year. You sound like a great organization and that is wonderful !! Keep it up.
Thanks so much cheerleader from POWER. You know, I heard from my coaches that South Bay Elite changed their name and location to Nor Cal Elite and most likely be called NCE. The weird part was that their website it www.NCEallstars.com and ours is www.NCPallstars.com. but, As we were told by our coaches, we need to respect NCE and all the other teams out there doing what they love to do, cheer or dance. I have no problem with POWER or NCE. I think that POWER is amazing and South Bay was too and will be as NCE. Good luck to all this upcoming season. Hopefully when we see eachother this season! -NCP cheer and dance
Same gal here! I forgot to add that we competed against Focus and Pyramids at Jamz Nationals! Hello! haha : ) we got third! Lots of fun battling it out on the floor! I was so happy we placed in the top three.
That's where I saw you guys, I knew your name was familiar. Good job at Jamz. And good point about NCP and NCE ... even the last letter sounds the same! Don't think NCE thought of that when they came up with their new name. It seems you have to come up with a really off the wall name to be unique these days! Not easy to do.
