Good decision Andrea. It really helps when your coaches and staff support your decision to take some time off for healing when an unexpected injury does occur, which they sometimes do. My daughter still shows up for practice, but the coaches and her doctor work together and make sure she isn't doing anything that can injure her again. I have heard of coaches who push the kids thru injuries because they worry about the competition and the void it will leave should the cheerleader be missing. Prevention is the key. When something "seems" off, we check it out right away. We don't wait till she is in pain and can't walk. Of course you can't always do that, but 90% of the time, there are signs. Hopefully there are coaches out there like ours who allow us to listen to the signals and take precautions.
And for goodness sakes... warm up AND COOL DOWN is the key. Be careful out there ladies and gents. It's your future you are dealing with!
