RE: Which Way To Go, 4 or 5?

Nope, it's not just about fulls. You have to have the whole package. That's seriously why California is behind. We think that if we have half of the kids on the team throwing fulls and doing doubles in the air, then we are level 5.

Then we travel to Dallas and Atlanta and are brought right back to reality. It doesn't cut it.

Not even close.

Right, I think we all agree it's not just about the fulls. However, it IS about the fulls PLUS much more. At the least, you have to have the fulls (at least 25% of your team, but that seems like too small a number from what I've seen).

Yea, 25% is way too small of a percentage to compete outside CA.

To compete level 5 you need tumbling of cource. Tumbling is what wins the the comp or not other then performance which plays a huge roll in winning too. But tumbling is only part of the score. You need to be able to hit solid stunts with few bobbles if any. Be able to hit atleast 5 body positions in the air. You need good tight clean motions. And good jumps. I think that after all that is completed you will have a good level 5 team. To compete with the bigger teams such as CA, Top Gun, and World Cup per say then you are going to need to have a team with about 8 doubles in it no bobbles in stunts. Hyper extended jumps. And most of all you have to show the judges you are having fun. You have to get into what you are doing and give the judges a show that will stick in their minds forever.

Keep in Mind

Keep in mind that the majority of programs in California don't compete past Vegas, even if they get that far. Only select gyms compete NCA or Cheersport, which is sad, but that will change with time and as the gyms get stronger. We keep at this t alent level, because the other teams we see at competitions don't have it. If you go to Jamz Nationals your not going to see the near the talent level you would see at Cheersport. Its just a fact. Those programs who attend the bigger events will keep getting stronger while the other gyms flock away to the smaller events.

I'm just curious...all of you who talk about how we California can't compete at Worlds or how California gets a rude awakening by competing at Dallas or Atlanta...have you even been to either? I'm not being confrontational, I'm just curious

Oh Yea

Oh yea, been to both and boy is it blatantly obvious. Aside from a handful of CA gyms, we just aren't up to par as of yet.
