Post Info TOPIC: CA Hs vs TX HS
Question to Texas cheer

Date:
CA Hs vs TX HS

Just want to be clear. Are you saying that CA HS cheer is not anywhere competitive with TX HS cheer? Or that All star cheer all around is more comp. than any highschool regardless of state?

I think individual h.s programs in California are good, but as a whole, they are lacking in some areas. As always we are good in dance and stunting. All the other areas we need help.

I have been to plenty of competitions in the last 6 years and the truth is that MOST HIGH SCHOOLS IN CA. ARE EMBARRESING. They are truly lacking the skills and choreography of the texas teams.

Yea, there's no way to slice that one, is there??? It's just the plain truth. When the schools finally get a grip and let kids do both school and All Stars will things change.

Speaking from experience, I cheered at the high school level and I will tell you that CA high school cheer is lacking in a huge way. We are talking 20 years ago when I cheered, but even then we were a head of CA cheer by far. I can tell you the amount of time we practiced was by far more than what my daughter practiced at all star level for 720. TX as a whole is big on a lot of different activities, Cheer is one but the Marching Bands are awesome. Football is great. You would never not see an empty stadium on a vistors side at any football game. As they say, cheerleading, sports, and band is a big part of pretty much every single childs life in TX. That is speaking from my experience first hand.

As someone who cheered in h.s. in Northern California, I truely appreciated doing all stars and got all my serious training there. I think the h.s. teams need to pay their coaches more, get some coaches there or take their teams to gyms, or just stay a spirit team. There is nothing wrong with having a spirit sideline team, but don't try to do things you see the "espn" teams do and create injuries/havoc for the rest of us. The problem is California teams focus to much on dance and stunting. If you ever gone to USA camps, thats all they cover. I think of the major things that other states have over California, is that they respect athletics as well as academics. Nor Cal seems to really push academics which it should, but being involved in sports should be emphasized. I am sure it would create less "health issues" that the news is constantly harping on.
