We are putting together an International Open Co-Ed team this season. It will take the place of our Open Team. With the ages being 14 and older, it gives people an opportunity to compete at Worlds, who might not thought they could. But remember, bids are earned, not given as a gift. As everyone in our gym, this team will work very hard to represent and try to win a bid.
It should be really fun! We have a ton of interest generated, and only have a few spots remaining on a team of 35.
We hope more gyms do the same, so there is good competition out there! Best of luck to everyone this season!
Okay, this one slipped by me completely. The International divisions are defined as "14 years and older". I thought that it was "14 yrs -22yrs". WOW.
I know these divisions were originally started to provide fair playing field for the true "international" teams that didn't have the same age requirements that we do in the US. It was only a matter of time before gyms in the US expanded or changed their "college" teams to meet these requirements.
Who else out there are going to offer International teams? And will those 14-18 year olds be cross competing in Senior divisions too?
So whats the point of having an "international" division. Why don't they call it open or something. I'm sorry. US teams do not belong in that division. Cheer is actually starting to sicken me the way people are taking advantage of every little loophole just because "its legal". Skillwise, cheer has been taking some giant leaps forward these past few years, but otherwise, I hate the direction that I see it going. JMO
i think its good that usa is gonna stay on top in ALL the divisions, the way it should be. just like the other divisions with bigger gyms these divisions could get crazyyy just wait, give it a chance!
i mean think about it teams like bullets, cheer force, and gymtyme are going in these divisions.. i highly DOUBT they will dissapoint!
Now Now lol ........ International Division which means to compete against all nations..... That would be like us saying at the olympics for basketball the united states should not be allowed to compete because they are good...... hummm hello...lol..... Which brings me to my next point USA used to rule in basketball not so much anymore being one of the most lazy countries we thought we were so good in basketball they didnt have to practice much, which brought an end to the so called "dream team"...... Im looking in a few years for china with there countries disapline to start kicking some butt in a few divisions...... So instead of us argueing about nonsence lets worry about our country getting better or we will all be takeing a backseat yet again to china.........
