I don't understand why these gyms are closing ... Last year illusions This year FOCUS and COLONY !
When I look at their rosters from tryouts - It seems they have enough members for at least one team.... I just don't understand. Management issues? Building costs? what???
I too am very upset that these gyms are closing. The staff at both gyms are fabulous and their communities are truly loosing out. Some how we need to get the word out what great programs cheergyms.com has to offer so we can get these gyms reopened soon!
This is so hard to see a great Gym like Colony close. Jodi has been great and we will miss her and Darcy so much. It's hard to say goodbye because you do become a family of sorts and you care about the people involved. As for my daughter we are not sure what we are going to do. The choices in this area of Cheer Gyms is slim. We are going to check out the new gym opening in Pleasanton 'California Spirit Elite'. I've heard good things and it's close. We will look into maybe going to Pyramids because we would like to continue with Cheergyms but it's quite a distance, especially during comute traffic. Oh well my heart is heavy and I'm not quite over the disapointment of Colony closing. I quess we will take a few days to decide and make a decision. We have enjoyed being part of the Cheergyms family so much :(
Ok that did it. Now I'm going to start to cry again. We love you Cooper! Your such an amazing dog. Wow! you can even post messages on the message board. Yep simply amazing.
I dont know where you're getting that cheer gyms around here are slim??? In fact theres another one right in livermore and many in cities near livermore.
Well if you don't mind driving to Tracy, Fremont, Concord, they are quite a distance away. Commute trafic can get really bad around here and what may only take 20 minutes can take well alot longer. Yes there is a gym in Livermore, but maybe that particular gym isn't the perfect fit for this person. Since Colony is closing that does make the choices locallly a little slim.
If your son/daughter really loves to cheer then im sure you will sacrifice a little more hten a twenty minute drive to let them cheer. I know of people who drive over an hour each way to cheer at a gym they love.
It is sometimes hard to drive a long way to gyms. Check with some of the gyms you like. They probably know of families in your area you could carpool with so you do not have to drive everyday. Last year I only drove 1 day or less a week to the gym because we set our cheer days with other families who drive the same way. I also like that some practices are on Sundays at Pyramids so you do not have to drive in commute traffic. If you want weekends off then you are stuck but if you do not mind Sunday practices then you only have 1 weekday to commute. You could also drive partway to another city then start the carpool. Driving 10-15 mins to meet the carpool is better than driving 1 hr to the gym and then waiting to take your child home again. I was dredding the commute to Pyramids the first year but it worked out well for me. If nothing else, at least you could use the carpool lane with 2 people.

the parent ment a cheergyms.com team. the nearest to us is in concord about 45 minutes away. I am so dissapointed!:'(
There are two gyms I know of in the Livermore/Pleasanton/Dublin area-- Cheer Xplosion in Livermore and a new one in Pleasanton (California Spirit), which was previously US Gymsports. It depends on what you're looking for of course. It looks like (from their website) Cheer Xplosion will have at least five solid teams. I don't see a website for California Spirit, so I don't know how many they have had tryout. And Pyramids is always solid of course... Concord is further, but definitely doable.
Good luck! I'm sad to see Colony close down too, but I'm glad there are other options for these girls. They seemed very dedicated to Colony and will make a great addition to any organization.
Found the website for California Spirit Elite (it's CaliforniaSpiritElite.com). I forgot to put in the "Elite", duh. It looks like tryouts are this month. I think most gyms are still accepting tryouts this month. Don't know about June.
I know it won't be the same, but hope you find another home you are all happy with, whatever gym you choose. Good luck!
I heard that Cheer Xplosion from livermore is very good. I also looked at there website and they have a lot of girls this year. I also saw there black team in Las Vegas last season and they were incredible! Now they have a team called Senior silver which I hear is going to be excellent! I also heard that a lot of girls from Colony are now joining this gym. I am glad they are having a successful year! ( they deserve it!!!!! )
From what I've heard quite a few of the girls will be going to Pyramids. Some are checking out the new gym in Pleasanton. I'm not sure about some of the new girls that were going to join this year. One thing for sure we are all going to miss Colony. We will also miss being part of Cheergyms. Danny and Morton you guys are a class act and it's going to be hard finding anything that matches your wonderful organization. I'm not forgetting Jodi we will miss you most of all.
