hahahahaha ya i want in free also stupid sexual discrimination. i think some of these parents on here are poeple who have girls in cheer and they are mad they have to pay when some guys dont. i dont consider it sexual discrimination i consider it under economics. supply and demand. there is a demand for guys but not enough of them so gyms are going to make sacrifices for them. i think as long as the girls dont mind guys tuitions being waved or discounted aslong as the other kids dont mind.
Benny, your post made me laugh, thanks for that. You had a good point there.
Maybe there are no rules when it comes to team sports treating players differently based on gender when the team sport is being run by a business. Don't think you could get away with it if it were part of a youth or community sport. I can't imagine a little blurb in the local community sports registration pamphlet stating guys are free, girls have to pay (you'd have quite the uproar). But these are all businesses competing against other businesses, so I'm guessing the rules are different. No matter how you justify it, it screams of discrimination. But it's quite clear it's been going on for a while and others don't seem to mind. And as long as it's disclosed and others are okay with it and nobody has challenged it, it must not be that big of an issue or we would have heard about it on the news or heard complaints earlier. I imagine everyone figures it's for the benefit of the program as a whole, I guess.

Funny as it sounds.. this has been done and reported on the news a few times. LOL
well if people are going to sue for all this they might as well sue everyone considering females get payed less for doing hte same job as males. thats a bigger topic considering htat affects everyone but people dont sue them so i dont legal actions are going to take place here people just like to complain about something

Not me, Like my hubby would say don't hate the player, hate th game! I pay for both my kids to participate in whatever they want and they are worth every penny! (regardless that its more than my house payment ; )~) If my son would cheer I would pay his tuition and him... chances of a (great) boy getting a cheer scholership to a great college is easier than getting a football, baseball or other "traditional" boy sports. That supply and demand thing.. Gotta love it! You guys ROCK and I don't hate on any of you. I love my childs gym and wouldn't trade it for free or discounted tuition! Love and luck to all! ATM Mom

People do sue over that... Hello this is America... we can sue when the coffee is to hot or when our Quarter Pounders make is fat. hahaha
this is getting funny lol. can you imagine a 400lbs person walking into mc donalds and be like im sueing you you made me like that hahahahahaha that would make me laugh
is that legal? wrote: In this day of equal rights for all, it seems like this cuuld be a law suit in the making. I you have a family who can only afford to send one of their two girls to cheer, do you waive tuition for the second or even third child? Just curious?
ummm well apparently its legal to give guys higher insurance rates the girls
hahaha, you really need to read the news more. People do sue for things like unequal pay based on sex, it happens all the time, and guess what.. they win.
The insurance point is a good one, it's true that males have to pay higher car insurance than females. So it's a good thing most of them can cheer for free, pay for those higher rates.

Another thought! I love to watch an awesome allgirl routine. Look at Power! There's proof that you don't need the guys to go to Worlds!
How about just focus on building an awesome program?! Someone tell me why it is soooo important to have the boys anyway. Once again look at Power large and small teams!!!
What is the situation in other parts of the US? Are they doing this? Did they do it to get the boys in the door and stop? I am curious to hear from a well established program who is doing this. Did you do it in the beginning and than stop, or are you still letting boys cheer free.
Stop using this forum to glorify your favorite team and put down another!!!! This is a great topic, it makes people think. SUPPLY AND DEMAND, IT'S SIMPLE. Maybe there's a reason power only has all girl, maybe it's by choice. I'm sure if they wanted guys they would have them. By the way, the weel established programs are doing this and it is working!!!!

With the exception of one boy in our gym, all of our boys are a brother of girls on the teams. Because we offer the waived tuition, the parents were able to afford placing their sons in the program. They still have to pay full price for uniforms, competitions, etc. And let me be clear, we in no way charge the girls "higher prices" to cover the costs of the boys. It seems to be working for us though, with just one boy on our team two years ago, we now have 20!
I understand that some people may not see this as fair to the girls. However, at this time everyone in our gym see's the value of having the boys in our program. I'm sure at some point down the road, our program will be strong enough to charge boys and girls the same amount.
Best of luck to everyone on the rest of their seasons!

Hmm looking at this post from a logical point of view, I would ask, why can't you do that with girls. Why can't you just make them pay for competitions and other things. I honestly think everyone should have to pay for everything, unless they are financially strained, then they can work at the gym or do things to help out to waive the tuition. I personally feel its a bad decision for business reasons. Just because someone is a guy, they can get free tuition. What does that say to a parent who has 2 girls in program, saving to just put their kids in cheerleading.

The difference in a bar though, is that it is a LIMITIED promotion based on a time frame. Getting free tuition for 11 months, compared to not paying a 5 dollar cover is completely different. LOL
I think that soon there could be an all guy team. theres more and more guy flyers for baskets. all you need are smaller guys for stunts maybe not true coed partner stunts but flashy allstar stunts. I think an all guy team would be amazing. guy baskets are getting better than gurls now too. you never kno. maybe one day.
Actually, there already is an all male squad: www.cheeratlanta.org
I saw them at cheersport this year. I've seen guys do baskets and go up in the middle of a pyramid, but this was really the first time I saw guys doing heel stretches and arabesques.
I have had a boy on a cheer team for two years and have been able to get a discount BUT we AND he had to work for it! Which I think is the BEST idea around--the gym gave the discount if you promised to work when needed and it works GREAT. The only problem is when a parent takes advantage of it and does NOT work for the discount then the sitiuation is just plain NOT fair! (It DID happen and they got away with it!) But, I have also had the thought of maybe the girls getting the same offer to be fair but then HOW would the coaches get paid?

It was a bit much for me.
I think there are "Cheer(insertCity).org teams around the country that are created "To raise monies for direct care service organizations serving individuals with HIV/AIDS and other life challenging conditions."
The majority of members are male and have great stunting skills. There is also a team in San Francisco
