I just went to the divas board and you have to register there now too. It's the last time I will visit their site. I just loved seeing what everyone had to say and say hello now and then. If cheergyms does this, I will likely stop visiting here also. I love the free posting option.
I agree that not everyone in any organization is "perfect" including ours, and I did not mean to imply that we were, but can see where you would think that from my post. What I was saying is that on these boards specifically I do not see postings from our gyms bashing others and causing what the other poster referred to as "drama". I can say that I guess I have been fortunate enough to not have experienced sitting by anyone from our gyms that has been rude or negative towards anyone at a competition, and if you have been, then I will take it upon myself to apologize for that. Nobody is perfect, myself and my child included, but I do know that Cheergyms as a whole tries to teach our kids to be positive, supportive members of society. I am sure there are parents and kids out there that are not, and if you experience one, take note of them and call the gyms director and let them know so they can address it properly instead of posting it up here in an anonymous board. There is a right way and a wrong way to do things and the way some parents are generalizing negative comments about gyms as a whole is just supporting the exact thing they are complaining about. Use these boards to comment on cheerleading as a whole, on how to make it better for our kids and parents, make positive and negative comments that will better the sport, not bring down any one gym or organization. Just a thought!
I keep reading that "it may get out of hand" or "its a good place to talk about controversial issues" , but it is going to be VERY rare that many of these issues get fixed from an internet message board. Handling the issue directly is something that should be done by everyone. There are 2 types of people , those who complain all the time and those who complain but want to make it better. If cheergyms.com makes us register, then whats the big deal. You have to register with whatisprox.com and cheerathletics.com. Its not a huge deal. The huge deal is when people make blanket statements and accusations without knowing all the facts.
Ooooh One two three how do rumors get started, started by the jealous people And they get mad seen something they had and somebody else is holding
Tell me that temptation is very hard to resist These wicked women who they just persist Maybe you think it's cute but girl I'm not impressed, I tell you one time only With my business, please don't mess
*Look at all these rumors surrounding me everyday I just need some time, some time to get away from From all these rumors I can't take it no more My best friend said what I'd never meet the girl next door
I know this is random but for some reason after reading these posts this song just came to my mind.
Disagreeing with you Cheerleading Fan. I've seen proof that message boards can and do make a difference. Sometimes sharing your ideas/feelings with your own gym doesn't work, you need a wider audience so you can verify that others feel the same way.
True, whatisprox.com makes you register. So if this board decides to do the same, the difference between the two will be that whatisprox.com is not tied to any particular gym and does not have a moderator that deletes posts offensive to a particular gym but not others (although the moderator did say that may change). Hey, there's another example of posts making a difference!
Disagree in ANY case your always going to find 1, 2 or maybe even 3 examples to fit your argument, but the overall intention of these boards is not to slander teams and put down a program. That is what I am talking about. It's one thing to say "Backyard all stars" didn't look their best at ABC nationals, compared to "Backyard all stars doesn't deserve 1st place, the money, and their routine was just not horrible" That is just a quick example, but the point is communication, and honestly what type of audience your looking for. IT seems to me if your looking to come on these boards for attention, then that is a problem in itself. I think its a great place to express some new ideas and ask questions about upcoming events.
I do not think they should end the cherrgyms message board. I think it is brining great attention to the cheergyms association. Some people might not like iot but the majority of the mom and cheerleaders do. The message boards also shows how the teams are doing and information the you might need. I mean some moms might not like how other moms are showing off there daughters but get used to it they are proud of them. It gives out great information and the cheerleaders can even give some comments or positive feedback to other cheerleaders and friends they might have on another cheergyms team.So PLEASE do not let a few people spoil this for everybody else hat loves it. THe message board is very useful...dont shut it down!
I agree that there have been cases when the message boards have prevented perhaps a team from breaking the rules when a schedule comes out and they are in the wrong division, and this is a forum to voice frustrations on many topics. The message boards are BETTER THEN NOTHING as far as being a forum for opinion, even though many of the opinions never get read. I say you should take a lesson from pro x and welcome honesty in an effort to improve competitions and cheer programs. If anything, at least we can prevent the wrongs of the past from happening in the future.
