Worlds becoming Over-Rated?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't get me wrong. I want to go to worlds... without a doubt. But getting bids from organizations such as GSSA, JAMZ, Jamfest, and WSF?

...These competitions are called "National Championships", but are not truly "National Chammpionships" to me unless you compete against 15+ teams. NCA, Cheersport, UCA... these companies give Bids to worlds (and they should) because hundreds of teams attend the single nationals that those companies host. There arent 3 UCA Nationals, or 5 NCA Nationals.

Do you guys think that getting bids from small companies is worth a shot at going to worlds and WINNING?

Lets keep talk of 'experiences' of going to worlds OUT of this topic. This topis is strictly about getting BIDS FROM SMALL COMPANIES and having a chance at WINNING from them.

(in response to sb all star) But thats just it isnt it? "Random' teams are going to show up at worlds and soon enough worlds is not going to be hard to get to anymore. Bids left and right, who know what teams are going to be competing there this year. What about in 5 years? How many bids do they plan to give out by then?

I think that in the furture, there are going to be too many people getting bids to worlds.

Another thing that I strongly disagree with and forgot to bring up is At Large Bids. Why should a team go to worlds on an At Large Bid if they couldnt even beat the first place team in their division? What do you guys think?

I think what he is trying to say is its great to get a bid congrats. On the other hand its gonna stink to go to worlds and get a 70 when everyone else is getting 90's. I think next year not only winning your division but you have to get a certain percent. This will knock out the teams that are going just to say we went.

I think in large coed if you dont have atleast 8 doubles 6 toss stunts and like 5 standing fulls you have a small to no chance of winning so why go.

i think small coed is about 3 standing fulls, 8 doubles and about 7 or 8 stunts in the air.....

Yes I know the experience factor, but come on if there is no chance why waste your time.

This is worlds not oh you got lucky the first place team got a bid so here have this bid for you. COME ON.... this is to see who the best of the best really is.

Not a red carpet event to just see who shows up......I thought this is supposed to be worlds, for this its just like any other random competition.

Coaches shouldn't set there kids up for failure....

Or if they can't even beat the 1st place teams in the divisions that were blocked from competing for the bid. And by your logic. That means, that if CA wins. Whoever ends up with the bid by default, shouldn't be able to take it, because, they were only a 2nd place team. My how your song changes when you are the one trying to benefit from Jamz lame way of giving out bids. You sure sound like you were singing your own version of "I don't want no scrubs" back in September to me. So now, I really am done with this subject until scores are posted.

Actually the JAMFEST Nationals in Indiana was HUGE. If you saw the schedule this year, it was bigger than many other nationals. There were 12-13 large senior all girl teams. That is bigger than Dallas and Cheersport. Jamfest Nationals will continue to grow in the future. Just food for though.

So you're trying to make it sound like I contradict myself?

Ok, first of all, that is a completely different topic. I admit, I dont think that JAMZ should be giving out a bid, but heck, if they're giving out a full paid bid, I want it! The entire issue of that topic was whether or not small companies should give out bids or not.

Yes, I said RANDOM teams. Was the schedule to JAMZ posted in SEPTEMBER? NO! It was NOT!

What was your intention by re-posting those replies to an OLD topic? Trust me, I know what I am talking about.

And Yes, I said that I dont think teams should get AT LARGE bids for second place. Also, just because CA got their full paid bid already, does NOT mean that they will get first place at JAMZ. I have every intention of going to JAMZ, doing my best and trying for FIRST. Am I going to slack off because I know that IF California All Stars gets first, all my team needs to do if get second?

NO!

Would you like to know why? Because I'm a hard worker and I'm dedicated to my team!

We don't need your negative energy on these boards. Quit being so defensive just because you threw out a rude comment that you're having a seemingly difficult time backing up. Bryan happens to be the best tumbler in northern california. Can you say that about yourself?

wow well yes bryan is a good tumbler but not the BEST in Norcal.

There is a girl on POWER who is definetly throwing the passes he does including a standing full and well as ive seen people from SBE throwing the passes if not harder. Yes Bryan is a good tumbler but not the best

Ill give it to bryan he is an off the hook tumbler and im not just sayin that because he is on my team. Stephanie from power is off the hook too no doubt about it. And yes Cameron from SBE is amazing and can do what ever he is in the mood for and i know probably 4 other guys at that gym that would give him a run for his money...but can we not make this topic about who is better then who...just prove it on the floor but be a good sport about it...good luck to all!!!

Points of clarification:

1. Any company providing World's bids is only giving it out at one event regardless of what any of their other events is called. That qualifies as a National Championship.

2. I don't remember how many were in the Large Coed division at NCA, but Cheersport had 9 and UCA will only have 3. Jamfest had 9 AND since there were only two paid bids up for grabs, each of the divisions were actually competing against each other.

3. I believe that Jamfest had the second (maybe third behind NCA) largest attendance at a competition this year.

Absolutely - Jamfest is huge. Just because they haven't been out this way for us to experience it doesn't mean they aren't legit. The only thing that beats Jamfest's "big" nationals in Indy IMO is CheerSport in Atlanta. NCA and UCA used to be close but their attendance has dropped a lot over the past few years. I do agree that GSSA giving one out is sort of a joke, but they pay their money to USASF, so they get their bids like everyone else.

Why is GSSA's bid a joke? If they send a team that represents cali well, how can their bid be a joke? Just because they are small and not a "real" nationals? I think some of the best teams in Cali will be there this year battling for that bid. And their bid winner took third in lg sr all girl last year...beating teams that got bids from "bigger" competitions. Did I miss the joke part?

Sure, the bid system isn't perfect. But USASF and the member organizations have every right to decide how it works. I don't get the joke thing - should everyone but teams that know they are going to win just stay home? That would get really boring!
