Re: Ashley's fall from a stunt onto the slab floor yesterday
Senior Gold Team and Staff,
We just got back from the doctor an hour ago.... the dr did not think it was broken when she did her examination, but since she fell onto the hard floor, she decided to order an x-ray. After looking at the x-ray, she thinks it is fractured, but we have to wait for the radiologist to look at it...... and on Monday, Ashley is scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon for his opinion. Right now, her right arm is in a splint. Yea, the one she writes with..... We are hoping the dr is wrong, but we will find out for sure on Mon. If it is indeed broken, that means Ashley's cheer career is over for this season, according to the dr. Yea, she is upset about it..... Jeff, we just wanted to give you the heads up, in case you need to rechoreograh the routine. And Ashley really feels bad about this....... how will she floss, how will she write, but most importantly, how can she not do cheer? lol Anyways, she will be there on Sunday watching her teammates work their butts off...
We were just sending you our get well wishes.. Take it easy and do what the Dr. tells you to do. I am glad you are coming on Sunday, I will see you then. Let us know if you need anything.
Ditto what Megan said. I do appreciate the advanced noticed- that is much appreciated. I also hope that her wrist is not fractured, but I am glad she is going to take it easy. I will see you on Sunday- keep icing that little wrist of yours.
Thanks for your concern Megan and Jeff! Yea, I guess I am glad we went to the dr. when we did..... instead of assuming it was just sprained. The dr has Ashley in a splint, so it will be kind of hard to ice, Jeff. lol This is just a precaution, in case Ashley does have a true fracture. I read that x-rays don't always show the fracture right away.... may take up to 10 days. According to the dr, this scaphoid bone can disintegrate if ignored. At least she did not fall on her head! I guess an outstretched hand is a common reaction to catch a fall..... know Ashley knows better to fall differently. Anyways, sorry again to Jeff and the girls on Senior Gold for having to redo the routine. I know it's a pain for all, but at the same time, Ashley did not deserve this.
Sorry to hear this happened. Please keep me informed as to what is up. I am hoping Ashley will be able to come back into the routine and at least perform at the final competition (or maybe even sooner :)). Please know that we want Ashley to come to practices and competitions to be there with her team. She has been there all year, and I would hate to have her miss out on the end-of-the-year fun. Again, keep me informed as to what is happening. My well wishes are with you, Ash!
Thanks Morton for your message and for your phone call re Ashley. We see the orthopedic specialist tomorrow for his opinion..... but the radiologist over at John Muir confirmed that Ashley does have a fracture. I think Ash is over being upset, and she is looking forward to picking out the color of her future cast....lol
Anyways. we wil see what the orthopedic surgeon has to say tomorrow....
Morton, you are the best! Thanks for taking the time to care....
