Thoughts

American Championships

Just got back from American Championships in Anaheim, thought I would post a few thoughts on it since we were all discussing competitions in other posts.

The good: Awesome competition (CA All Stars were simply amazing, and I loved watching Power's Level 5 Senior team, I'm not sure if they were co-ed or all-girls, I'll have to check).

It was very well organized and on-schedule. Easy to get in and out of the venue, lots of good seats available (it was at the Anaheim convention center)

The bad: No videotaping allowed, and Mr. Video sold tapes at $40 for both days, BUT, only the division our team is in. So if you have four teams in your organization in different divisions, it would cost $160 for their performances for both days. I don't know if they sold a single day for $20, but again, it would only be the division your team is in, not the entire day.

The award ceremonies were in a different area, going on at various times that for some of us conflicted with seeing our other teams perform. Not good. But on the positive side, they (awards) moved quickly and you didn't have to sit through so many of them as is usually the case. So it's a toss-up there.

All in all, I enjoyed it and I hope we go back next year. One final note -- there were a few bad sportmanship issues involving several different organizations (you know who you are if you're reading this) and I think we should keep in mind that 1) we're all there for the kids and 2) there will always be a few bad seeds in any organization; we need to look past that and not take our issues out on the organization as a whole. I always find that in almost all organizations we've gone against and have associated with, as a whole they're great folks. We're all in this sport together, right?

Want to know, there were actually a few things going on that I witnessed, where a few organizations were all at fault. I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time I guess. But my comments were just to everyone in general. I've discovered, even on this board, people will make a comment about parents or particular cheerleaders and then say something negative about the organization as a whole, which doesn't seem fair. I should have mentioned, on the positive side, I saw several demonstrations of very good sportsmanship, and I hope that we can all learn from them. We're all one big cheerleading family...no??

I think AC will post the results shortly, and I think some of the ones you mentioned were already posted by someone else under a different subject. I thought I read Power took small senior level 5 (well deserved!)

"Results" you made a mistake in your post, the above noted catagory is not "LARGE ADVANCE SR", this is "INT SR COED4". The results for the "LARGE ADVANCE SR" division are as follows;

1. Power
2. Fierce All-Stars

Cheer Admire

Results, thanks for the info, but you left out some teams that placed further down. So teams that may appear to have come in last actually finished in the middle. Didn't seem to be a pattern, you put in some, left out others. Best to either post the complete results, or point someone to them. Thanks!
