Since this kind of came up. Remember just because an atlete on a level 2 team may have the personal skills to compete on a level 3 or even 4 team, they are only allowed to perform level 2 skills. My daughter is on a team where a majority of the team could probably compete level 4, but that is not what is best for the entire team. I would rather see them rock at level 3 than struggle at level 4. I brought this up, because of the previous post. We have had a level 5 flier substitute on her level three team to fill in for a missing team member.
It's funny that the rules say it is OK but people still want to say it is unethical. I guess Pooper Scooper's team must have lost or something. Who are we to judge a team who is going by the rules and then we say that following the rules are unethical? I just don't get it! And if someone's Gym doesn't want to do this, don't. The rules are there for everyone to follow. It's funny also how some Gyms choose to follow some rules but not others. Then they want to judge programs that do. This type of double talk gets to me.
I sincerely hope you are not implying that California Allstars was sandbagging. You saw how those teams put it all out on the floor. Where, tell me where was there any room for sandbagging? They are perhaps the best program west of the rockies and they aren't there because they sandbag. Don't make your program look bad because of your own issues. California Allstars is a talented group of folks starting at the top. I will not sit here and read any posts implying otherwise. Some things just don't need to be thrown out there and I am not going to keep quiet and tolerate unwarrented bashing. I truly hope this is understood.
I've got to agree. Pooper Scooper should find another place to bash CA. Here in the State of California, we all know what CA is about and it's not sandbagging and unethical madness. I wonder if Pooper Scooper is from American. They kinda put out there that "American did well though." I was there and American didn't have a good showing at Spirit Sports.
Can we all stop bashing teams and each others comments. "Agree" you didn't need to add in your last statements to make your point to Pooper Scooper. You are just as bad as Pooper Scooper by bashing another team. Shame on you.
Where is the sportsmanship in cheer? I'm still looking.
I didn't see Agree as "bashing". If you read several of the posts, people are stating their opinion on how teams did at the competition. It is done everywhere and if Agree didn't think that Amer. had a "good showing", then that was their opinion. Now calling someone unethical IS bashing. Plain out bashing and not an opinion. We all can see that whether we were at the competition or not.
Ok, Pooper Scooper wasn't bashing. Read it as if it were spoken. You are reading an attitude into the words instead of "listening". That tends to happen when words are written instead of heard.
Putting your kid in to substitute as a flyer on a lower level team isn't a very nice thing to do. Yes, it's allowed, but you don't have someone from the same level that can substitute??? And dear Lord how many substitutions did you actually have??? There were many many girls "substituting" out there that day then.....
Well, next time we all come together, we will see if the same 'substitutes" are still there. A level 4 kid doesn't belong on a level 2 team. Unethical? Maybe. A good thing? Not in my opinion. Looks good to other gyms? Nope. Make you look bad any way you look at it.
Now, no one is bashing CA. There were many teams doing that. If you read into it that way, then you were LOOKING for something to bash. Cmon guys. People are only posting their opinions. You don't have to agree. You don't have to stand for it. But it's the United States. Don't want people saying bad things? Then don't do them.
I didn't say CA was sandbagging. I actually was refering to an incident that happend to us last season. I was saying if a team is caught, it looks bad.
Boy, people read into things when nothing is there. I was only saying what happened at the competition. Thats it. You guys are truly bored.
Anyway........ good luck to everyone this season. Ca is a great gym. They always do wonderful things out on the floor. But boy are they not all so nice on message boards..... I actaully met a few parents there and they were really nice. I bet they would be embarrassed by all of this...
PS I'm not from American and my team didn't lose. See what I mean about reading into things???????
Oh yes. Wasn't the Elvis routine incredible??? And I though American and CA was wonderful too. I missed the little ones cause the night before was so long and loud that I had to rest and let the meds set in before I could go back.
What about the team from Jersey? I thought that was so cool for them to come to California and win. I felt so happy for them. And the special needs kids. That brought tears to our eyes.....
OMG Those special needs kids made me cry too They were such a joy to watch and I thought the elvis routine was incredible too and so different. I actually thought they were a dance team when they first came on stage and I said to myself ,"Oh great its a dance team ick". But boy was I SUPRISED they were so much fun to watch.
I just loved the all girl team from CA I have them on tape from another comp and I like to play it over and over. The coed team from CA was also amazing to watch.
Does anyone have pictures or know what company did photography for the event? Since I couldn't go to the competition I'd love to see those Elvis uniforms you guys are speaking about. Anything different is always interesting.
can anybody tell us about the coed level 5 teams and y u liked them. I also would like to see the elvis pics and didnt mavericks also have another level 5 coed ?
mavericks were wonderful also. I was a bit disappointed by the Open teams. I was expecting something more. The level 5 coed teams were way better. Cheerleading has come a long way...................
Scares me to think what it will be in 5, 10, 20 years!
Spirit Sports was fun. Did miss the NORCAL crowd. Large Junior division wasn't close between Starsextreme and CA. BETWEEN 2nd, 3rd and 4th was one onehundreth of a point. It really came down to deductions for STARSEXTREME, AMERICAN, and OUTLAWS. Raw score both days the placed CA 1st, American 2nd, outlaws 3rd, and Starsextreme 4th. It came down to who could hit. American and outlaws had issues so Starsextreme took 2nd. No one even came close to CA, they were clean and Dallas ready both days!!! And as for American bashing CA, that would never happen, those two clubs are very close.
