Right cheergyms.com and all of the schools that they train will be exhibitioning only. Right now All Star registrations include..... Athletic Perfection, Airborne, Power and more. There will also be manby high schools and dance teams.
A schedule will be posted about a week before the competition at this address. http://cheergyms.com/ss06main.htm
When cheergyms.com was known as just Pyramids it held its own competitions. In fact, the competition that America's Best holds in Sacramento every November was originally a Pyramids Competition before it was sold to AB.
If all the cheergym teams and all the schools they help coach are exhibition only, half the competition is exhibition only? I'm just thinking those are a lot of exhibition only teams, usually at competitions there are only a couple to a few you sit through. How many exhibition performances will there be, approx? I guess I can just wait til the schedule comes out, they'll all be listed on the schedule with their times, I'm guessing.
well cheergyms teams are exhibitioning at the spirit spectacular because normally gyms dont compete in their own competitions... like power doesn't compete in POWER competitions... just a reason why we are exhibitioning...
Instead of having everyone sit through all the cheergym teams performances that are exhibition only (that most of us have seen anyway when we competed against them), it would be kinda neat to just have a few performances of new routines put together just for these exhibitions, that include cheerleaders from a combination of all their teams. Otherwise you end up with at least ten (probably fifteen or more?) exhibition only performances, which I'm sure you'll agree is a bit much for a competition. Not being rude, just making a suggestion, and maybe that's what y'all have in mind anyway. See you there!
There are a couple of reasons for having the Cheergyms.com teams and any schools Cheergyms.com has worked with just exhibition at the Spirit Spectacular.
One reason is so that the competition would be as fair as possible to the competing teams. Many times when a company puts on a competition and teams attend that the company worked with, the impression is that those teams will either win or if be given special treatment. We did not want to have that happen.
Another is that the Cheergyms.com teams will be attending many National level competitions during the months of February, March and April and having another performance will help them out.
Another is that when a competition company rents a facility they rent it for the entire day. Many venues give a specific amount of hours the competition has to go on to make sales of food and souvenirs worth the facility renting to a particular group. The facilities usually take a portion of food, souvenir and door sales.
Another is that companies put on competitions to make a profit. Having the Cheergyms.com teams perform assure that their fans will come and pay the entrance fee and possibly buy food and souvenirs.
Another is that the competition for this first year is very small. It starts at 10 am and ends at 4 pm with 2 awards ceremonies. No one should have to stay more than 3 hours max. We wanted the competition to feel full and exciting, more teams just do that. Next year, as the competition hopefully grows, you will see less Cheergyms.com teams
Thank you for your suggestions and I hope I have answered some of your questions. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to email me at morton@cheergyms.com. It is my goal to make this the premier competition in Northern California. You suggestions on how I can do that will be very valuable.
It should be fun, I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the info. And even though I've seen their performances, they're always fun to watch, especially the higher levels.
