what about younger kids competing with an older team? such as a 6th grader competing with a sr team. im not sure i would want my daughter around those kids. i know what they talk about at practices and her innocent ears dont need to hear it! also, the work ethic is different. what do you guys think? id much rather her be at the top of her team with the highest skills, where the maturity level is around hers. after all the team does go up to 9th grade. thats old enough!
i have 6th graders on my sr team and personally i think being with older kids makes them more mature. We watch the language more and its better for us. If a younger child is at that level why not put them on the team. It also makes them feel good and have self esteem knowing that there good enough to be on a sr team.
I agree with having age appropriate teams. If your a young all star program, then you have to put younger kids on a senior team, but if your an established program, then you shouldn't have 6th graders on a team. Regardless of how you watch practice, it is not a good thing for these kids to be on teams with older girls. They try to act old or the kids feel left out of the social part of the team. There are reasons why there are jr. and jr. prep divisions. If I had a child on a team, then I would want them to be around people their own age.
I was there and you can tell by watcing each routine your don't scores to tell you who is good and who is not. I could and so could a lot of people there just by knowing and being in this sport for soo long. It shows on the squad that goes out with pride and knowing that they could win. Its not that hard to spot touch downs and dropps on stunts you just have pay close attention and not watch with an untrained eye. Cheer athelitces had absoluteyl no touch downs and each and every stunt wnt up with ease so come on and with some of the other teams there were touch downs and wabbly stunts. That how you can tell you don;t need scores to see who was out for blood on the world bids or not.
I agree for the most part, but on the 2nd day, Jags had 3 touch outs and 1 bobble on a stunt that was still in a prep. Good save though. I didn't see Panthers on the 2nd day but on the 1st day, they had touch outs also. But the top 3 in every division, with few exceptions, had amazing performances especially those teams from the state of California. Considering that they done start their season as soon as those teams from the South and East coast, they were amazing.
Yea, I saw that too. Overall they're were some very strong teams there. The competition was good. You can tell who was ahead in some divisions but others were too close to call. It made it exciting. I guess that may be one of the reasons for the video reviews. It would be interesting to know what the placements would have been without the reviews.
i have to agree with you I guess judging has just stepped up a bit. THe competition is gettong tuffer and tuffer to spot mistakes. WoW!!!! Those judges have to be just as cut out for it as the squads are becoming.
