This is true. Our scores from American Championships competitions usually take at least a month to show up in the mail. The only scores that anyone would know right know would be from day one.
I'm not surprised that a coach would tell their team that it was close though (if they didn't win, or that it was by a lot if they did), even if it wasn't or if they didn't really know - lots of coaches do this to make their team feel good about their performance!
This is for "true SBE fan"....I was just posting the truth and I am sorry if you thought that was negative. Sounds like you do not like the truth as I never said any of SBE teams were not good, in fact I stated I was a fan!!! Not just SBE but alot of programs do not compete against anyone alot of the times so I dont know why you got so defensive. In no way do I think the Jr Coed team is not good, I think they are GREAT!!! Sorry if I offened you!
this is ridiculous...it seems like anytime someone from south bay states an opinion or defends themselves they get knocked down as "negative" whereas the negativity started with the comments they are replying too. Just because you use the word "certain" doesn't make it positive comment. And i think the first "negative" post was the one starting rumors (which weren't true) about the number of injuries they had. SBE TRUE FAN was expressing their opinion and also wished everyone good luck...maybe i'm way off here, but i don't see how its "turning the topic negative" when they were just replying to someone else's remarks.
I don't think people were referring to True SBE Fan's remarks. I think they were referring to the second or third post above that knocked down Cheer Athletics' awesome performance.
i'm confused...who knocked down cheer athletics performance? i know that everyone at the american grand was honored just to be competing at the same competition with them..
this is sort of on topic...I just wanna say that i really enjoyed the american grand this year. Its always been a good compeition but with the change in venue (arena seating) it made the one negative thing about it positive. Not to mention that with the added prestiguous gyms coming from all over made it even more exciting to watch. Every year the news catches on about this competition and I bet that next year will draw an even bigger crowd and hopefully more teams from the westcoast and especially from california will head out there. Not to sound like an advertisement but I think it had a really good blend of positive, fun atmosphere with high level competition. The only downside is that its held in vegas and so the air is quite thick and smokey when indoors.
The other downside to that competition is that they REQUIRE you to stay at their host hotel. We live a few hours away and that's why we weren't there. Most of our families have family who live close by and coudln't see paying that much for an "added' competition to our already full schedule. That's just one major downside that we saw. We didn't know that they put the competition in another room though, and I am sure that made a difference. For years the seating there was terrible. Glad to hear it's getting better. They still have a bit more work to do though. Let us stay where we wish. It saves ALOT of money!!!
Question: Was it true that competitiors stayed at the hotel across the street? (why can't I remember the name of the casino) Why not at the MGM like before??? And why so much $$$ for a week that alot is closed in Vegas?? Just curious..... if they change the "required hotel stay" we will most likely be there next year.
Thats true, I had forgotten about that, that is definately a downside when trying to save money on already expensive trips. Yes, they did have some teams stay at the Excalibur, I'm not sure exactly why, I think because all the rooms reserved for cheerleaders that weekend at the MGM were already booked up, the same thing actually happened last year too.
We loved the American Grand. The rule is still the same....you need to book there package, it is more than likely because of the deal that they made with the mgm. When it comes to the different hotels, the majority of the competitors stayed at the MGM. If certain programs paid past the due date or registered late than they were put at the MGM's sister hotel NY NY. This happens often at large comps when there is overflow.
The only way not to buy the package is if your return mailing address on your registration packet is within 100 miles of Vegas: like LV Elements, they were not required to purchase the package since they live local....
I was suprised that we did not see more vegas teams in attendance as it makes it affordable to stay at home.
I agree, the competition is great. The American Grand is definetly one of the BEST nationals on the West Coast. It probably is my favorite. The venue and time is great.
The results from Vegas were very close in every catergoriy and there were a lot good teams there including the ones from Texas. The thing is that Cheer Athleitcs goes ouit and put on a very convinceing FLAWLESS. I think the ones that knew what was wrong were the gilrs on that team because to us in the crowd they lloked very FLAWLESS. Power did an awsome job being put up against Cheer Athletics. After see the the battel go one between every squad in the Worlds division I can now say that everyone of the squads is going to come for another qualfier and go for BLOOD. American cheeer to also did a great job with a lot of touch downs but now Texas teams know that They are on our side of the World and we want those bids just as nuch as they do. I had to figure that South Bay Elite did a rush weekend that weekend becuase something anout their performance the 2nd day but they still surpirse just like thye do every year. Those other Texas teams need to wathc out buecase I know now Power, American, and SBE are goign to kicking into quadpural gear and clean up what erever need to cleaned and are really going to kick some butt at the next qualifer. The other thing is that Calforina Allstars did a great job too but going up Cheer Athletic with such a FLAWLESS routines is going to tough. OOOOh I can;t wait for the next one it going to a huge battle. POWER, SBE, Amercian and the rest of the west coast temas goin for world keep up the hard work and show those east and souther coast squad what the west coast is all about espeically all the squad from CALI.

The second post in this thread:
It is true that Cheer Athletics won the Small All girl unpaid bid with their Advanced Jr. Team. I guess we're suppose to bow down or something? Not sure. While there's no rule against it, I doubt they'd dare pull that !@$% in their own region. I just feel it is disrespectful to all of us on the West coast. Butttttt......Typical texas.
It's not disrespectful at all - any of their teams could beat any Nor Cal team any day of the week and twice on Sunday. And I say that being a coach in Nor Cal.

HOw do you know it was close both days? THe coaches dont get the restults mailed to them until weeks after.
Been watching this topic for a while and it gets kind of crazy. I agree without alot of the people posting. I see no problem with the junior teams competing in a senior division. As a senior team at Worlds, I would want to compete against the best of the best at any age level. Junior teams tend ot be awesome! Alot of this has to do with the fact that at that age, there is still a huge commitment. As the cheerleaders get older other activites pull them away, whether it is other sports, school, getting a job etc.
I thought the comment about teams staying in their own region to compete was a little over the top on some level, but at the same time, what about teams being declared the best in their region or state and than moving onto a national competition. I know this won't happen!!!
