I am on a senior team that has 19 year olds. I was looking at some compteition websites and it doesn't look like you can do that...Does anyone know anything about this??? Please let me know!!!
I think the rule is that as long as you're not 19 by August 30 or something like that. So you can have 19 year olds as long as they were 18 at that date.
I agree with the above person. You can have 19 year olds as long as they fall under the Aug 30th rule.....this is a new rule that the USASF has put into effect for this year as they transition to the age division system not the grade division system. I am happy for it this year becuase we were able to have a couple kids participate that would not of been able to in the past. I do hear that it will return back to 18 for next season though. Goodluck for the rest of your season!
HEy guys! Yea i think that the rule must be something else because i just looked at the GSSA website and it says"19 years old and still in 12th grade". But that probably workd for you guys since you seem to know the rules.
"If an athlete is 18 (or younger) on August 31, 2005, the athlete is eligible for another season on a senior team. This is NOT affected by whether or not the athlete is currently enrolled in high school."
The above info is from the Americas Best Website. So even if the athlete turns 19 on Sept 1, 2005 they can still be on a senior team. The statement of "19 years old and still in High school " or "19 years old or still in high school" has been what is confusing to everyone. Some companies are using the first and some the latter.....both of which mean seperate things. Hope all coaches read each company seperately.
Since we are not attending GSSA I have not done any research on there rules.
