I SAY TRYOUT AT EVERY GYM IN YOUR AREA. THEN, MAKE THE TEAM. EVEN IF IT'S 2 HOURS AWAY. THEN PICK THE TEAM THAT WINS THE MOST 1ST PLACES. WHO CARES IF YOUR PARENTS HAVE TO DRIVE OR IT COSTS YOU MORE IN GAS OR IF YOUR GRADES DROP. HEY, AS LONG AS YOU'RE ON A TEAM THAT YOU THINK IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, YOU WILL BE HAPPY AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.

THAT'S RIGHT JB. AND IT IS MY VIEW. WHAT? EVERYONE ELSE CAN HAVE A VIEW? NOT ME? I SEE. WHATEVER.
you are absolutly allowed a "view"...but passing judgement on people because they commute to cheer..or change gyms when you arent in THEIR life or situation....it's a clouded view at best....:) no harm intended...but until you walk in someones shoes......ya know

Lol, it really seems like it is mostly the parents. But have at it whoever wants to make that drive, at $4.00 plus a gallon, good luck with that!! : ) What cracks me up is they try to pull other kids from the gym they are leaving to help them pay for the gas! Too funny!
On a happier note, and back on topic.... At American we increased our enrollment 50% over last season! We don't determine divisions until late summer, but looking towards an exciting season!

Last I checked..it is a free world...is there such an uproar over choosing one restaurant over another? After all...we are customers! Let me be clear and then no more on this post...I left a gym...for reasons that were mine alone...they fit my life and my situation and I "took" nor convinced anyone to go with me...the commute is very hard but has been great. I get the feeling that whoever you are "think" you know what you are talking about...but you do not...move on..that would be great...:) Good luck to everyone who tried out and have a fantastic 2011-2012....blessings..:)

I say that this sounds a little sarcastic. To some people cheer isn't a just hobby, it's a lifestyle. They just want to be at a successful gym. It's not necessarily who "wins the most 1st places" either. It's having a chance to be able to compete with the other teams and doing well at competitions. And last I checked, being on a team that you think is good enough for you and being happy isn't a bad thing.
I'm not offeneded by BasherBasher2 comments, we too have changed gyms at one point, but the truth is BasherBasher2 is correct in some cases, in more than we'd like to admit. No one specifically was called out, and we shouldn't pretent it doesn't happen.
I never saw anything saying it applys to everyone, but if the shoe fits.......
So back to TRYOUTS - havent heard much from Fierce - they opened a new location and have 4 gyms - so how was the turn out. Havent heard from Victory - they have a new larger gym. Havent heard from West Coast All Stars - they had a huge turnout last year. Havent heard from Energie - we're they still opeing a high desert location? Curious to hear how these gyms are doing also.
