Has anyone heard anything about One Athletics? I haven't seen them at all this year and tried to go to their website but it said it didn't exist? Are they closing? I enjoyed their teams the past few years...
They had a couple of teams compete at Athletic Championship in Sacramento, so they are still around.

California State law states you can put flyers on cars on public property. Now, if the property is privately owned then you can not. Below that statement there is a breakdown of literally where you can and can not: "F.) Schools are also a place where you have the RIGHT to pass out flyers (as long as you stay in the parking lot and do not go into the school to pass out flyers). No one from the school can stop you, unless you trespassed into the school when gates were locked."
Needless to say this act is completely legal. When I head to a shopping center I sometimes leave with a flyer on my windshield from a business who is soliciting their product. They're not directly handing me something and telling and selling me why their business is best, but they are just simply letting me know that they have a business in the area that I might be interested in. If I am not interested, I just throw away the flyer.
In the world of all star cheerleading, getting a flyer from another gym attached to your car is one of the most simple, fair, and most KIND ways of soliciting business. In a world where gyms steal other gyms personal clients emails and send them tryout information, recruit kids at competitions, and hand out flyers and business cards personally to athletes and families..... a little flyer just showing that they have a business in your location isn't bad at all.
If you're looking at this situation negatively it's probably because your business feels threatened. This has happened at many cheerleading events including events held at the LA Convention Center, Anaheim Convention Center, and Long Beach Pyramid. It has never become a big deal because it is legal.... and at the end of the day it's a piece of paper!!!! Throw it away if don't like it!
This will not be considered "recruiting" in any way. It is not targeting a specific person and has no form of contact by communication, deal making, or payment.
The USASF is working on guidelines that will be part of the Professional Responsibility Code which is part of the terms and conditions of a gyms membership with the USASF for the 2011/2012 season. These guidelines include recruiting at USASF sanctioned events.Exact criteria will be announced at a later date.
Competitions are meant to be a SAFE zone/area.Gyms attend competitions to compete and not to worry about protecting their kids from being approached/pouched by other gyms. The best recruiting anyone can do is to put a great product on the floor / their teams performance.Every team performing has music that says their name 20 million times during the routine, If a kid really wants to look for another gym they can always find them on the web, but a competition is just that... a competition

Good to know John. I hope they don't try to say you can't put flyers on cars though! I have to agree with parent of 3. It seems hardly like recruiting. Any way - do you know when the Professional Responsibility Code will be released?

It is totally legal. The funny thing is that the comp that this was recently done at, the coach partnered up with the competition company, he has all star teams and a high school team, the coach had some kids go take all of the flyers off every single car. We thought, wow that was a lot of work for nothing. I asked the kid, who is having you take all of these flyers off? He said, the coach from the high school.

I have know idea what gym(s) you are talking about but I love your comment..."Train your own kids!" So true.
The thing is..on the "train your own kids" thing....sometimes a customer wants something else...and we as customers have a right to choose where we go...so sometimes training your own.....you still lose some....just do your best and do a God grant me the seranity check now and then....I think people forget that there is no pink slip to humans....I was a hairstylist for years....I used to laugh when a salon would sell and say "clientele included"....I believe we all end up where we are supposed to be...of our own free will....:)
If kids want to leave because they aren't happy with their gym then thats fine, but i find it very disrespectful that another gym is writing our kids, talking trash about our program when they know nothing about it and are just trying to create unneccessary drama.
@Fierce coach.....of course you are going to defend the thought of putting flyers on the cars, because they are your programs flyers!!! Funny thing is you have attended competitions and not put flyers on cars but you did it at the local sharp competition where you knew the local gyms SA and mystic were attending!!!! please also, explain the anonomysous txts that are being sent to SA and mystic kids and parents regarding your tryout info????? Do ehos worried????? I think your actions speak volumes!!!!!
