There were MANY amazing teams at this competition!
What did you guys think of OC's Senior Open 5 team?
I saw their video and I miss their old stunts! The new one is really nice too but I was slightly obsessed with how the old one started!! When they're all in line down the center and then boom, hit hit hit hit (solid everytime I saw them) and then move out

i heard oc black got the most deductions, anybody have a video, howd they do?
This was the only competition that they didn't go against anyone, so they tried their new stunts, new pyramid, many girls did their doubles&then they showcased their new dance(: Sooo, they just kind of tried their new things without having to worry about it as much.
And sorry don't have a video...they wouldn't let you record /:
The OC Lvl 5 team that was the second to last team to go on looked very bad, unrehearsed, and honestly IMO should not have even gone on. Half the girls fell while tumbling, and a few girls marked their tumbling instead of even doing it. And they got a first place award... because they were against no one! AND jackets?????? Most of the OC teams looked good yes but how many of those first place awards were because of no one else in their division? IMO they should not have got jackets if they didn't score a certain amount of points or have bragging rights of a "first place" win, when their was no competition. I wish gyms really said the truth about "Frist places" when posting it, like "first place" out of one, or no competition. Also, did anyone notice their were practically no fans there for the amount of athletes from OC? I was shocked how quite their fans were.
This goes for all gyms not just OC, I just hate to see owners bragging about first place wins when truth is no one was in their division.
A few teams from Central Coast cheer looked good. California Flyers looked very good, OMG especially their level 5 team.
This competition for the most part belonged to OC and West Coast All Stars. WC also had a team I believe it was the first team to go on for the day who had a few falls yet had no competition so of course won also. Their fans were definatly in attendance, and were very loud! I did see some of the older girls walking around after they performed with naval rings sticking out which was very in appropiate. There was also a girl giving her back to the announcer almost the whole awards ceremony as she appeared to be argueing about something to do with a jacket. For the most part though the WC teams looked like they were having fun, and very energetic.
I noticed a few things that told me OC and WC and some sort of rivarly going on between the two. Which is why I am talking about them mainly. Also anyone in attendance could see this was a match up between the two gyms. Personally I am not from either gym. In fact my childs team won over OC all stars and we were happy to have a fair win where we had competition.
i agree with the whole first place thing but a wins a win :) just because no one showed up doesnt mean the team hasnt being working hard. its not there fault the gym chooses which comps to end attend we cant make everyone show up. so as far as bragging rights i do believe they do belong to them. i havent seen the performance of that team, but hey it was like they said earlier it was a new routine some girls threw doubles that arent normally in the routine. they were probabbly nervous and im sure they knew they were only going to exhibition but since there is no competition minus well take home some jackets on the cold day right? and as far as naval piercings go? its a piercing? if you think thats bad then you probabbly dont like that almost the entire all star world wear midriffs/croptops. and the OC vs. WC thing is no big deal from what i hear its a couple girls (younger teams) dislike eachother, its a little girl thing, it honestly shouldnt be talked about or blown up. there going to get over it soon and its going to be like it never happened.
@cheeraintenuf - I really don't think naval piercings are "inappropriate." Most of the all star girls have midriff tops anyways, so what's so bad about a piercing to go with it? As long as it's out while they're on the floor, I think that's all that really matters.
This was a fun competition, I wish it were bigger though! It's weird to be at a "national" competition where half the divisions only have one or two teams in them. Regardless, there were some really good teams out there! CA Flyers level 5 was great especially, and I don't get to see them too often! If I remember correctly, they don't have a lot of really high difficulty skills, but everything they did was super clean and their timing was amazing! OC also had a really impressive younger team...I think it was junior 2? I'm not sure.
Good job to everyone who performed this weekend! =]

Im sorry but i usually do not respond to the negative posts like this but I felt I just had to. One of my daughters really good friends is on OC's senior level 5 and she went to the competition to support her. I had heard that yes they dropped a lot of stunts and didnt look perfect but you need to understand that they are getting ready for worlds. They are trying new things in order to perpare themselves better for worlds. Might as well take advantage of getting to perform the routine at a competition rather than at practice. I think it is rediculous to come on here and put these poor girls down who went out and worked their butts off and tried to hit as much as they could with a new routine. And as for the OC vs West Coast "rivalry" I have never heard of that and my daughter even told me she saw the west coast coaches on down by the OC parents when senior 5 was going on and cheering them on. So honestly I think you need to think before you post something

Hallelujah
I can not agree more. In addition at Worlds last year I remember both teams coming out and showing solidarity for each other at the competition. Everyone is trying new parts of their routines for worlds - everyone wants to be their best and make it to the finals!!!! It is exciting that California has so many teams going to Worlds. Hopefully the original poster is not trying to some sort of drama between these two gyms.
Did CA Flyers do both this comp and Best of the West on the same weekend??? I know I saw them yesterday at Best of the West, Sr Open 5 looked really good!! they were on the schedule for both comps at around the same time on Sunday, did they get moved to a later Sunday performance?
