RE: Styles of Cheerleading

Ok, I'm not sure who down here has full team fulls.... but so far I am not sure of ANY team down here that has full team fulls. Does it exist down here? I know our style of cheering is way different than Nor Cal. And that cheer tends to be a bit more popular down here thus it's easier to have tons of cheerleaders in your gym. But seriously, do we have a team down here that has full squad fulls? Full team standing tucks, yes.... but fulls?

I have never seen a California team with full squad fulls, LOL.. The closest team to squad fulls are maryland twisters F5 and CA panthers. Standing 1 to fulls and round off bhs fulls. Now if some team down there in so. cal has that , then 'go head, work 'yo stuff. That will be good. I was impressed by POWER's running tumbling last year. I think I counted 16 round off bhs fulls. I think South bay, pyramids large coed, airborne, motions, pyramids jrs. should be those top competitive teams this year. Should be exciting. Does anyone know what level they are competing and at what competitions.

As far as full squad fulls. Are they really necessary. By the way, Im sure POWER does not have them. Please. You can do lots of stuff and if people serve a purpose then they can be on an advanced team and still not have a full.

SBE is off the hook this year. Just wait.... and we dont have full squad fulls

Cheer Fan,

As a Motions Coed team member, we wil be competing at competitions such as JAMZ, GSSA, America's Best, Cheersport, and Jamfest. Motions Coed will compete level 5 Large Coed. I'll ave to double check our other teams but you can read the latest "Nelsons Thoughts" on the Motions site! Hope this helps

Im sure SBE is off da hook, but let's get real. Full squad fulls is an amazing skill to have. Yes you can put anyone on an advanced team and they may not have a full, but a team with the entire team tumbling at a high level like that is great. If California wants to start winning at competitions like NCA, Cheersport , and the Worlds then we have to get as close to the competition as possible. I am not taking anything away from any team, just bringing up the facts. POWER was probably the best tumbling team I have ever seen in Northern California. 2 snaps up to them ;)

I'll agree. Power has great tumbling but I disagree that it is not the best I have seen. The best tumbling I've ever seen regardless of the lack of fulls there were (I believe there were only 4 or 5 fulls) was Motions Small Seniors from the 2003-2004 season. Their tumbling was clean, sharp, toes pointed, legs straight, the works. I'd rather see a clean layout than a scary full.

I saw motions that year. Weren't they small senior that year and got 3rd at USA nationals. They only had a few fulls and yes they were clean. Power small senior had more fulls and I think were just as clean, along with their alternate passes that were done fantastic.

They were Small Senior, took second at USA Nationals behind California All Stars, and had 5 fulls.

Last season I'm pretty sure Power had a large Senior Coed, not small Senior. Anyway, I think this topic is supposed to be about STYLES...... Let's focus on this season, last season is gone, who knows what all of the gyms have until we see them on the mat!!! Can't wait...it's going to be crazy!

Clarify, we were referring to the 2003-2004 season. POwer did have a small senior that year. They went to Dallas that year too in small senior. Gotta do the follow up ;) Looking at past performances helps set trends for the future, ie. this season. I think the style of cheer that is most popular is just performance oriented. More showy, broadway, performance type of routines versus just skills with music. I am excited to see what everyone has this year too. When is everyone's 1st competition.

Many teams out there have amazing tumbling wether it was last year or will be this year...but who cares if u have 5 dbls and 20 fulls...its how u use those along with ur coreography to make ur routine (especially the tumbling section) amazing and not jus great!!!

Yes Sbe does have great tumbling...but wat makes them different from the other amazing tumbling teams? there are so many great tumbling teams out there now great tumbling soon will be on every team! And even tho they have some doubles, a lot of fulls, and standing fulls aswell...MY OPINION is i dont think my favorite tumbling section is where the people on the team that cant tumble are standing/squating in the back or on the sides...i like how everyone is doing something at all times...But i do agree with u...Sbe does have amazing tumbling and are going to be a team to watch this year

Representin, so whats an example of a good tumbling section to you, like a team? I like how some teams do put motions and other stuff going on, but there are times where its so cluttered it takes away fromthe tumbling. You want to be able to showcase your tumbling instead of taking it away from some stunt in the back or motions that sometims is distracting and messy.

exactly since SBE does have so much tumbling you cant have everyone tumble at the same time theere will be ppl standing in teh back waiting for a pass. they have a lot of doubles standing and reg fulls sooo well see what they come out with this year but im sure it will be amazing i think there one of my fav nor cal teams to watch bc they have the other amazing coreography as well. Roy i think his name is is awesome! Good luck to all teams this year!!

Come on Nor cal Worlds Wants you!

The best coreographed tumbling section was definatly Top Gun and Miami Elite at worlds. Every time u looked up someone was throwin a something wether it was a front to tucks, then back across to a double. Or having most of the team at the same time throwin a double.

In nor cal tho, my favorite team to watch was powers tumbling section. They had something going on at all times and kept you on your feet. American cheer did that even thought they arent from nor cal, but motions did that pretty good to.

SBE i think has good tumbling. But when i say standing in the back, they usually have some people center of the floor but in back, waiting for the section to be over, and i dont think just because u have a roundoff bhs double, i dont think you need to see the round off and no one else can tumbling because of that. But besides that i think SBE has had one of the top tumbling routines.
