You can wear all the crazy make up you want and you can do every which thing with your hair, but the fact is this. Judges only notice a lack of unifomity. An entire team can walk out with no make up at all. That's fine. A team can walk out with a Costco Cake Layer on their face. That's fine. But if a team walks out with either of these two things and one girl has short short hair or one guy has ghetto high tops on......that's when judges are annoyed with the overall appearance.
I think whatever a team does they need to feel like the look good when they walk on the floor. That is confidence and confidence is KEY.
Exception to the rule above: Pink Soles from C.A. If you're good enough you can wear KISS make up and a wetsuit.
I think they mean the girl that cheered for the Califonia All Stars a couple years a go. I believe she cheers for U. of Louisville now. She was incredible and she always wore tennis shoes with pink soles. It made her stand which is usually a bad thing but not in her case.
I think that was 2003, because at NCA nationals they were handing out free shoes and thats when CA started to wear them. I think it looked kinda tacky, because it draws attention to that one girl. In addition "costco layer" or no layer, the make up, hair, uniform, shoes, and overall grooming does hold alot in presentation. You maybe competing for a score, but your also setting an image as far as "all-star" and looking amazing. You only compete a few times a year, so why not look fantastic =) I feel allstar cheer is a sport, but your also a performer. All the "sport" pushers tend to forget the cheerleading roots and what they are out there for. They have high athletic skill, but still are out there to entertain, even in all-star cheerleading. Let the top-ranking programs speak for themselves. =)
