Here is a new topic. I would love everyone's opinion on. What does everyone think about cheerleaders competing on more than one team at their gym? This seems to be more and more common place. I really haven't formed a solid opinion on this, but just wondering how everyone feels about it. Some companies allow it at regional competitions and not when you go to nationals.
Of course it's fair. It's not like one team can do it and another can't. Pyramids has for the most part stayed away from it because it make it harder to build team unity but times are changing and they may have to cross compete just to keep pace.
South Bay in the past has cross competed more kids than any other program. It's been very successful for them. You can't blame them for taking advantage of the rules.
I don't think anything is wrong with Cross Competing as long as it remains healthy for both teams and the program as a whole. When individuals start saying "This is my good team and this is my bad team" it starts to get sticky.
I am an out of the area gym owner and I know for a fact that cheergyms.com and Pyramids especially has an amazing return ratio. I believe that is due in large part to their reluctance to let kids cross compete. Then again, cheergyms.com believes that winning is only a bi product of a healthy happy program. Forcing a few higher placings with cross competing may be more damaging to the program in the end.
I agree with you exactly Graig! I think the only problem I see with it is exactly what you say can happen. It can greatly effect "building" a strong "team"! Cheergyms does a great job of building "strong" teams! It will be interesting to see if cross competing becomes more and more common.
I agree with all of you. I think cross compeating just makes you stronger and if you like to do it i think you should be able to. Its the same thing as being on a highschool team and an all star team at the same time.
I have cross-compeated with sr all girl and sr coed for the past two years and its so much fun! Its crazy how different two teams can have two totally different "feelings" on the floor. All girl is more fun and you bond more where coed is more "elite" I think its great we have the chance to expeirence both!
So yay for cross-compeating until we get enough skill around here to not have to do it anymore :)
