i love being on 2 teams ive done it for 3 years its so fun it gets you closer to other girls in your gym too i dont think its hard to manage at all i love the extra hours in the gym and getting to compete more then once its amazing =)
My daughter competed on a level 5 and open 6 team one season and it took a huge toll on her body and she was very stressed out. practices were on the same nights so she was there for 5-6 hours sometimes until 11 o clock. And most of the time she'd perform with the level 5 and then have one team to rest before she performed with level 6. it was very tough for her but she stuck it out through the year, but I don't think she'd ever do it again.

i think its better if your on like a level 3,4,5 team to do like a level 2 team or one team or 4.2 it fun to do like one higher level and then do one lower level.....if that makes sense

My experience was similar.. Except i was a true level 3 and i was used on a level 5 for my basing skills. so i was on a senior 3 and senior 5... it definitely took a toll on my body, but needless to say i enjoyed it very much. there werent many level 4 teams at the comps i went to.. so it was compete, 5 min break then warm up.. and i actually developed asthma induced by athleticism. and i had to take breathing treatments. but now i no longer have it cause i am not a active. I was never pushed into being a double teamer, so that is why i enjoyed it. Ive seen some cheerleaders who were pushed into it and they ended up quiting very soon after. it has to be your or your cheerleaders personal choice.

I dont think the intent of level 1 and level 2 teams is for level 5 athletes to have fun. Its like having someone play varsity, and then do jv too just for kicks, if that makes sense.
Have you heard of gyms that make you do more then one team or put you on 2 teams wtih out talking to the athlete or parent? I have heard of this before and wondered if this is normal practice in some gyms?

Not in my experience!
Not in mine either. Double teaming has always been an option. Actually at my old gym, if an athlete wanted to double team, you signed up when you registered in the beginning of the year, there was even a paper the athlete and parent had to sign, (I think..).
We have never experienced that, but this year my daughter will be on 2 teams. But it was kind of explained it might happen right after we tried out. So everyone was made aware that this could be the case. I'm ok with it, if it will help the gym build stronger teams. I'm sure if it is really a huge problem, that it can be worked out for those who can't or just don't want to. But, we were def told, ahead of time our daughter may be on two teams

How is this even possible? Even if the athlete said yes, the Parent always has the right to say no! Is this info coming from another gym director or a parent? No gym can "make you" do more than one team. Strange indeed.

It makes sense and I agree. Too hard on the body to do two high level teams. Although I don't like it when I see Level 5 or 6 athletes on a junior teams.
I have heard this from another cheer Director, the comment was, we list them on as many teams as we need and if the parents freak out we might take them off of one, if not we charge the crossover fee. To me this is like a bait and switch tactic.
