Well in Northern California, especially bay area, the parents really push high school cheerleading to their kids. I think thats one reason why programs aren't growing like they used to. I find all star cheer more exciting and less dramatic. Also your skills are really pushed in all stars and you get so much more exposure in competitions and a large variety of athletes, people, and coaches. You can't find popularity and parents wanting their kids to fit in.

My oldest just made the squad, we shall see what she says. She wants to do both...I figure, one is the opposite of the other and she will choose which one she likes better in the end. But she has stated she would choose All Stars over HS if it came down to it.

One of my girls have done both high school cheer and all stars at the same time. She enjoys all stars better but when it comes to dramaics it's even!

I Think For My Daughter Because She Cheers For Her NON Competitive High School Team She Gets The Best Of Both Worlds. She Gets To Enjoy The Friday Night Lights With The Girls She Goes To School With And Compete With Her All-Star Team. I've Seen The Struggle With Conflicting Comps Between HS And AS And I'm So Glad She Doesn't Have To Go Through It

My daughter did allstar and high school. She balanced both very well, ending up with a 4.0 gpa. I have to say you should consider both for very seperate reasons. Allstars is their chance to be really competitive. High school is a chance for them to be part of their high school. Cheer on their sports teams, meaning football and baksteball. When my daughter was a freshman all she knew was allstar. She then joined her high school team. Of course the skills are way different, and so is the asthomsphere. She loved cheering the Friday night games for football. Her favorite was cheering for basketball! I think is is very important to be part of your school. She also loved cheering allstar.  Luckily she had very supportive coaches on her allstar team. She cheers level 5 coed where practice is all the time, yet she made both work. Hopefully your cp will have the same chance!
