woahh. so, just because they go to smaller competitions does not mean their teams are not good. who knows, maybe they are actually bomb and no one has seen them because they go to smaller competitions. not affiliated with 1greenmom but i'm just making a point here.
however, it is always nice to get more teams out to the other competitions.
1greenmom- perhaps your teams will be competing at some other competitions this year? i'd love to see your teams. good luck this season.

I have seen sharp on gssa's site as a listing for comps.  They are really cheap but they don't have spring floors, to me that is looking for problems.  Our gym has never done a sharp comp, but being as they don't have spring floors our coach said she would never do one.  To much of a risk for injury.

Anyway, good luck with your comp season !

I don't think she was being boastful. Clearly, being new to all stars, the families only know what the owner exposes them to. Just because they only go to Sharps comps doesn't mean that they shouldn't be perceived as "good." They probably do great where they currently compete, which is a smart move for the owner. As the parents learn more they may desire more, which is what everyone else is getting at...there's definitely more to be seen and learned.

1greenmom, your interest will now be peeked since you've joined these boards. I agree that you should visit a few larger more reputable all star competitions for comparison, if not simply for entertainment. You can also look up all star teams on you tube. You will definitely notice a difference.

Hope this helps... Good Luck to your teams this season! =)

Honestly and unfortunately, yes - it gets brutal.  But there are also some great people out there who will offer guidance and constructive criticism in a diplomatic manner.  No need to hide your head. LOL  We all had to start somewhere.  One other thing you might want to compare is the price that the rest of us pay to participate in this highly competitive sport...seeeeveral thousand per season, per child.  If you're happy where you are and your child is happy and the price is right then don't sweat what others say.  If you're a highly competitive person and want to jump in with the sharks, come on in the waters warm. LOL With some thick skin and the ability to shut out naysayers this could be great for you and your athlete. Sounds horrible but it's actually a fantastic thing to be a part of.

Don't be ashamed.  It's only cheeeer.  There is not one kid on all star that came in knowing all their wonderful all star skills.  It's learned.  Some kids have natural talent in which they can learn faster and some take longer but everyone starts at the beginning.

I find it kind of weird that you're so new to the cheer world with your Sharp comps and never heard of the other bigger comps yet you found this site.  I barely heard of this site last year and I've been in all star cheer for several years.
Plus, I just don't understand how you posted these comments back to back.  It's kind of bi-polarish.  I don't know, maybe it's me, it's just questionable in my mind.

1greenmom- what team does your daughter cheer for? do you have any videos? it's always great to learn about and see new teams. don't be ashamed about anything. as long as your daughter is happy and you are happy then that's all that matters. cheer can be a little brutal sometimes and people will be mean. it's rough but i love the allstar cheer sport. i love the competitions and the challenging routines. it's a major rush. are you going to consider allstar cheer for the future? and again, good luck this season to all your teams. :)

Actually Sharp is one of the oldest competitions around. They host drill teams, flag, majorettes, & cheer competitions. They are usually less expensive, smaller and located at high schools or theme parks. Teams that attend Sharps are usually new to the cheer world or are on a tight budget. I dosent mean they are not good. Everybody has to start somewhere. I went to Sharp competitions for Drill team / Dance as a child in the 80's when they were the only ones around. Yes! Ive been in this (world) awhile.
1GREENMOM~ if your new to the cheer world you will soon learn about the cheer world. As your team competes you can compare and you will know how your team ranks to others. Dont let anyone else tell you that since you go to certain competitions then you are not good. Good Luck to you and you team this year!!
